What do you listen to at work or whatever?

I used to listen to my Yahoo radio station, but you have to pay or listen to endless repeating commercials...and they're really bad commercials to boot.

Proton Radio is cool sometimes, but they are hit and miss IMO.

So enter Pandora. The free version has no commercials and it recomends some really good music. Just enter any band to get started...it's real easy and intuitive. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Supposedly it was started by some Music PHD's.

Its so rare that I get a chance to put my headphones on these days.

Too much talking about work, not enough work.

cody 2005-12-22 02:40 PM

Yah, having your own office has it's benefits...

An office wouldn't exactly answer the questions that co-workers need answered, nor would I exactly close the door just to listen to music.

cody 2005-12-22 02:52 PM

Having your own office = no need for headphones. I never shut my door.

Of course, but I'd find it annoying if every time I attempt to chat with some if music was playing in the office. Therfore, I'd also try not to do it myself. Luckily for you, though, it sounds like that isn't an issue. Sometimes I wish I had a job that was so autonomous from the rest of the company.

JonnydaJibba 2005-12-22 03:02 PM

I rock out with my headphones all day long. I usually listen to whatever. It's so nice to have headphones in an office with ladies that jabba jabba jabba.

cody 2005-12-22 03:09 PM

I keep the volume reasonably low usually and I'm a quick draw on the mute/volume button if sombody comes in to chat...

sperry 2005-12-22 03:12 PM

I don't seem to have a problem cranking the music on my little h/k speakers. Mostly 'cause I do it from 8pm to 1am... you know the second half of my work day.

I haven't added many artists, but here's my station:

Depends on where I am working, at the Gem Gallery, its xmas in the front, and the Bandit in the shop. Or occasionally we toss in some Dredd Zeppelin or the Real deal...

At the office I consult at its either my yahoo station, or some australian station.

When I am at my home office its usually kids screaming or yahoo.

cody 2005-12-22 06:50 PM

I'm too cheap to pay for Yahoo Radio so I'm really stoked about Pandora. They play lots of bands I've never heard of, and half the time I like them. I'm getting turned on to all kinds of new music. That never happened with Yahoo.

cody 2005-12-22 06:51 PM

Oh, and the audio quality blows Yahoo out of the water.

Libila 2005-12-22 09:30 PM

I listen to my CDs at work. I just cruise around the pool with a boombox on my shoulder and bump my jams. Yeah, I said it...

M3n2c3 2005-12-23 01:59 AM

I usually run various video game OSTs in the back room. My two favs would be Metal Gear Solid and Zelda. . .

Wait, everytime I see you in the back you are playing video games?!

MPREZIV 2005-12-23 07:42 AM

Dude! That Pandora thing is pretty sweet! I usually listen to my CD's at work, as I'm not on the computer much.

I challenge the lap swimmers sometimes.

bruspeed 2005-12-24 02:54 PM

The Police FTW!!! Also some ghey 80's butt-rock mix. But if I get ahold of the radio before the other knuckle-ass', Then It is usually radiohead, or something equally as melodramatic. Oh, and the Frank Show.

OST = Original/Official Sound Track. I have a ridiculous collection of video game soundtracks.

I wish I had time to play games back there. :(

Cody, awesome find with Pandora. I have been training it for a couple of days now and it is finally starting to give me the good stuff. If they ever introduce commercials between the songs I think I will subscribe. Thanks!

tysonK 2005-12-25 12:57 PM

When hear my brother's launchcast I never hear commercials, is it the same thing?

This is one where you can skip songs endlessly.

He's been using for awhile now.

Ezdno 2005-12-25 09:56 PM

Thats the pay launchcast, with the normal you can only skip 4 per hour, and commercials every 4 or 5 songs

I think he said it was only like 14 bucks a year, I pay more than that at lunch.

tysonK 2005-12-25 10:10 PM

You can tell I'm too lazy to actually go research it.

After eating all friggen day I am too lazy to research it either, but I thought it was only like 7.95 per month...and I am way to cheap to pay for it. I will skip my meesley 4 songs an hour change the station if I dont like it.

Regular launch doesnt have as many station options but hey its only background music anyway. I also noticed that if you find one you like, the next time you try to use the damn thing its a Launch + station the bastards!

tysonK 2005-12-25 10:58 PM

I don't think there really are stations I think you just rate the songs you like and it begins to just change what it plays regardless.

Glad you like it Mike. :)

cody 2005-12-26 10:44 PM

Launchcast is $4/mo. You can listen your own station (which is customizable...like Pandora) or one of their premade stations.
