I saw this on another forum... kinda gay if you ask me. It does make me want to find a more "suitable" muffler tho.

It makes me just want to trailer my WRX everywhere and drive a bone stock car on the street. :(

sybir 2006-03-12 10:44 PM

Try living in Sacramento, where we've had 3 or 4 "street racing" deaths each month.

I'm just waiting for when I get pulled over becuase my car fits a "profile for a street racer."

Hey, if I had another car to drive around, I'd NEVER drive my talon. My talon, just like Matts STi, would also hide from clouds/rain/FUCKING DIRT ALL OVER THE ROADS & FREEWAYS/bad weather period.

I guess it's a good thing I can only afford suspension mods for now. . .

JonnydaJibba 2006-03-13 08:03 AM

Wow, Reno's not that bad is it? Is there even a street racing scene here?

The whole time I had my Sentra SE-R and Celica GT-S, I never once had an encounter like this, and both of those cars had plenty of modifications.

A copy of the police training video of what to do with modified cars.

Glad I did not put a wing on the wagon. :)

Duckie 2006-03-13 01:40 PM

Reno has a street racing scene...a super small one that the mayor has a PERSONAL vendetta against. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some stops like this. Luckily they have ZERO idea whats legal for my car =D.

MikeK 2006-03-13 02:32 PM

Most people on this board have a personal vendetta against those retards as well.

I didn't realize you couldn't have adjustable cam timing, or after market electronic ignition on a car. (my buddy added electronic ignition to his really old VW bug) .
NV lets you run just about anything right ? (if you don't have to smog)

JonnydaJibba 2006-03-13 02:37 PM

They used a Honda as their example "street racing" car. Coicidence? I don't think so.

There are only two counties in NV that even do emissions testing (Clark and Washoe, i.e. Las Vegas & Reno), so for the most part we are pretty safe.

IIRC, the original pamphlet given to the cops under that program to help them "identify street racing cars" had a picture of a bone-stock STI on it.

That's dumb. Sure they have a giant wing and scoop, but don't use a stock car as an example. That just shows how much less they know then they thought they did. Or something.

Again, did you see the reason he used as to why he was pulled over.....no front license plate.

That whole thing is bs, so next will be, if you don't have stock rims on your car...your modified and I am gonna have to look at it. I suppose everyone that modifies their car is assumed to be a street racer?

Yeah, pretty much.

Double Phister 2006-03-14 11:38 AM

one of the things the officer was looking for when he approached the car was a monster tach and a shift light.

Next time I get pulled over in the STi I'll point out to the officer that I have a shift light built in. Street Racer from the factory yo!.

That's because it's illegal to not have a front plate...

cody 2006-03-14 12:36 PM

Remind me not to smuggle immigrants under the hood.

Yes its illegal here in nevada according to the revised statutes as indicated in a thread previously posted to in here, however, some of us still drive without a front plate, I currently don't have a front plate. I think it might be worth it for me to dig it out and put it back on. Just one less thing to get pulled over for I guess. I have two relatives that are cops in Cali, and I can just imagine them doing the same damn thing.

Thats funny because my stock 1989 Ford Escort had a shift light, I am an old school street racer!

I had an '86 automatic. There was a dummy up shift light on the dash, and only two gauges: speedo and a giant fuel gauge.

http://www.ajovalo.net/Esitteet/E86FordEscort.jpg

That's exactly my car, 'cept I had no pinstrip and no hub caps. What a POS.

Ezdno 2006-03-14 11:05 PM

Ok that is a POS, at least mine had a 5 speed, and a wing.....and the body lines were smoother..

I love the suburban upper middle class life the Escort is portrayed as having in that pic! If only they knew what the future would actually hold...

Ezdno 2006-03-15 09:00 AM

I think we should all buy one and mod the crap out of them! start our own Middle Class Street Racers club.....not race, but drive them around and look like we are racers.....THE SECCP Sierra Escort Car Club POSERS!

A1337STI 2006-03-15 05:58 PM

I Almost miss my lil 89' escort. that's scary that others also had a ford escort, and around the same year as me. what i miss about my escort was rallying the SHIT out of it (do peeps get mad if we swear on here? need to feel out the flow) i had a few times where the only thing keeping me on the path was all the small trees i was hitting. (back in michigan when i was 16/17)

Kevin M 2006-03-15 07:27 PM

Cursing is okay, vulgarity and obscenity, not so much. ;)
