I just had an idea...

Anyone interesed in having an Initial D meet? I got the whole series on DVD and I haven't watched it in a while... anyone interested in getting together some day and watching some of the 1st season, or the Initial D movie, or something?

For those who don't know... Initial D is an Anime about an 18 yr old kid who delivers Tofu in his dad's AE86 Trueno that gets into street racing on some mountain passes in Japan. It's all about modded cars and drifting and other Japanses style motorsport stuff. It's in Japanese and sub-titled, so bring reading glasses.. hehe.

I can prolly cram say 6 or 8 people in my apartment, and we got a 10' projector, so it'll be very "theater like".

That sounds cool. I haven't heard of that show, but seems cool.

I'm down I would like to check out your car and I like Anime so let me know I know we have not met but I met kail a couple of times.

Well, I'm assuming we're still on for next weekend to install those gauges, so that's out since we'll need the better part of Saturday for that, and while I've got the header off my car, I'm gonna try to fix my up-pipe leak (again) on Sunday.

I'm out of town the weekend of the 8th/9th. The 2nd is the Super Bowl... So, we can try to meet up on the 1st, or sometime in later Feb.

Would Feb 1st work for you guys? Otherwise, toss me a weekend that's good tor you and we'll see what we can do!

The 1st sounds cool to me. And yea, this weekend, so far, sounds fine to me.

Super Bowl is this weekend the 26th... So it looks like the 1st and 2nd are free for Initial D.

Did you want to do the install on the 1st and 2nd also?

since then it won't interfere with the football game.

We won't have time to do the install and watch Initial D... I figured we'd get the gauges into your car on Saturday. Then I'd fart around w/ my exhaust leak on Sunday morning, or put it off until my Stage 1 parts show up. I should be done in time to watch the game that afternoon.

So this Saturday would still be good for me for the install. If next weekend is better, then we can do that, but that'll force Initial D to be on Sunday the 2nd, and I won't be able to work on my exhaust leak.

I think I'm good for the first, but nothing until then for sure. I want to check out initial d though, i here it rawks.

Okay, I've had some event shufling going on... so it looks like the 1st / 2nd are turning into install days... Arthur and I are installing gauges in his car on the 1st. And I've got an exhaust leak to fix on the 2nd.

So, the 1st/2nd are scrubbed for Initial D. We can try to do it this Saturday (Sorry Matt!) or sometime in later Feb.

Since Sat is so soon, I'm figuring Feb 15 might end up being more likely.

Feb. 15/16 is Daytona 500 weekend, plus the 17th is president's day... Initial D!, racing, maybe some skiing, and I think there'd have to be drinking in there somewhere... I'd be down for a trip up that weekend, especially since I don't have to go back to work that Monday. :mrgreen:

Plus after all that Feb 14 Valintine's crap, you're gonna need some AE86 drifting, some Daytona drafting, and beer.

The only Valintine I like is my V1 Radar Dectector! :twisted:

Okay, here's the tentative plan:

Sat, Feb 15th... Initial D meet day!

I've got all the episodes and both the movies. We can probably watch the whole 1st season, if we're hard core about it: 16 episodes = 8 hours. Or we can watch the Initial D movie. The movie's only 2 hours... since it takes place after the 1st two seasons, it recaps them at the start of the movie, but nothing that'll ruin the TV series if you plan to watch them later. And of course, we could just watch the first 3 or 4 hours of the TV series... (but the movie's better).

I figure we'll get some pizza delivered (bring a couple bucks), and I'll have moderate quantities of soda and beer on hand... if that's not your drink, come prepared.

Remember, the 15th is the day after Valentine's... so make sure you can use the "sorry honey, I have to go watch cartoons about Japanese street racing" line w/o getting divorced. Since my significant other is parked in the garage, I don't think she'll have a problem :lol:.

The LabMonkey will be in the house, so you can meet him... not that he's anything special.. but if you feed him beer, he stops throwing shit across the room.

Everyone's invited, but if everyone shows up, it'll be a little crowded. 'Course, how often can we get everyone together at once, right? (I'm sure this'll be the day... :lol: )

Well, I'm not sure when Austin (AtomicLabMonkey) is going to be up here... if he comes up on Friday, then any time will work, otherwise I'll want to wait for him.

What's a good time for you guys? 11am seems to be about right for our other meets, or we could make this a Saturday evening thing, and get pizza for dinner instead of lunch?

Ill just keep the day open. I can make it anytime. Pizza sounds good. MMmmmmmm.....pizza.......mmm.....beer.

Okay, so it looks like this will be an afternoon or evening thing... say 3pm, pizza at 4 or 5? Or we can wait till dinner time (6pm or so)... plus w/ the sun down, the projector screen in my apartment is easier to see.

Sounds like an excellent idea!!!!!!!!! I hope I can make it granted I thru my back out on the 23rd of Jan. and had to be rushed to the E.R. Anyhow, I go see my Orthopaedic Surgeon on the 10th of Feb so We'll see. :cry:

this past Thurs. was the first 2003 Season Opener from Monte Carlo which featured the new STi( Driven by Tommi Makkinen & Rally team partner Petter Solberg).

I think we should watch the Initial D! movie, since I've never seen that, and if there is any WRC coverage on we should also watch that, cause... well, how kick ass would that be to watch with the whole group.

I'm gonna run home right now and program my VCR to tape the Monte Carlo Rally-Xtra that's on at 3.

The Rally Sweden show should be on soon too... since that Rally happened this weekend.

Crap... I was robbed!! Stupid eastern times... well, maybe it's on again soon.

Awesome! If you can come to the Initial D day, you should bring 'em! Do you have the 2002 Season Review episode? That'd be cool to watch, since it covers all the 2002 highlights in an hour (or was it 2 hours?). It'd make the 2003 season more interesting to watch for the people that didn't follow last season.

So I'm thinking the viewing schedule should include: 2002 WRC highlights, 2003 Monte Carlo Rally X-tra, 2003 Sweden Rally X-tra, and Initial D the movie. That's about 6 hours of automotive entertainment... and I'm sure there's Daytona stuff to watch (like the Busch race) since the 500 is on the 16th.

9 people is pushing the limits of my apartment for TV viewing, we've got chairs for everyone, but some people will be sitting at the kitchen table! If the weather's not too bad, should we consider firing up the BBQ for dinner (BYOM), or is pizza still the plan?

I am confirmed, but my friend may or may not go. He is coming up from St. Mary's that day, so he might be tired, but i doubt it.

What about Imprezton, Khail? Either of them?

If there gets to be to many people, we can do it at the house I am staying at. there is no projector, but digital cable.

Haven't heard from either of them for a bit (or from Ryan aka SoulCrusher500 on NASIOC... anyone seen him lately?)

I'm guessing Khail's new job seems to eat up his time (at least that's about when we stopped earing from him).

The monkey is escaping for the weekend, so the Mrs will not be coming along. She's always down for hanging out with the guys, but I think this weekend of motorsports would be a little much even for her. I'd love to bring the Mustang up to show with everyone else's cars, but I think it will be up on jackstands in the middle of the coil-over install over that weekend. Plus it's still February, so I don't know about the roads... I'll be bringing the Jeep.

So it looks like 7 or 8 people depending on BOO. Plus my roommate prolly won't hang out for the whole time, so my apartment won't be too crowded.

I am still there....but I may be stuck till around 5 pm depending if my brother goes to finals for State wrestling championships. He always loses to this one guy in Vegas, so Ill probably be fine for 3 pm.

Awesome! Bring those rally tapes!! ...all I've got on tape are the 1st few rallies from the beginning of last season.

:lol: That sucks... reminds me of this one guy that kept spinning me on the last lap of every Talledega race when I used to race online. Like three times I was leading with 1 to go, and he'd spin me right before the tri-oval. Damn "Days of Thunder" and that whole "rubbin' is racin'" bullcrap.

I just tested at Chicagoland Speedway last night, I was like *jesus* this track is fast... the sense of speed in the game seems really good to me. Those WC guys stuff it down into T1 there at ridiculous speeds. Plus you need to paint me a car this weekend, hehe.
