What the hell? That's a terrible idea.

Joeyy 2006-10-04 08:26 AM

If you lived in Truckee with that you would need a winch.

ScottyS 2006-10-04 08:26 AM

I'll be that lifted H2 gets up there --- too bad it won't fit through the door.

The kids will love it come winter, though.

Oh ya why is that?

Because people assume these pictures are local even though there's no red dirt or trees like that around Reno/Tahoe, and the license plates aren't CA or NV.

MattR 2006-10-04 08:34 AM

I assume that is in the dirty south somewhere. Braselton, GA is my guess.

MattR 2006-10-04 08:35 AM

Maybe even Michigan

Kevin M 2006-10-04 08:45 AM

What retarded engineer approved that shit? I don't like going as high as 15% on a driveway, and that higher one looks close to 30%. :wtf:

It's not really "too steep", it's that the approach angle is so fucked up. My old neighborhood had some driveways that bad, except they were curved so they'd ramp up to the grade and roll off to the garage.

They were bad-ass for racing the soapbox derby cars down.

qksubi 2006-10-04 08:51 AM

OMG!! WTF!! I hope they give a free set of parking blocks with every house!!

qksubi 2006-10-04 08:53 AM

JC do you know someone thats buying one of these houses? Where did you get the pic from

First, there was Creation.

Then a little later, there was the Internet.

Then like 5 seconds later, these pictures were on the Internet.

I'm guessing JC saw them somewhere on the Internet and decided to share them with those of us who haven't seen 'em yet.

From a local forum. I have no idea where they are from.

That's a little less "smarmy" and a little more "dickwad" than my nose picking comments. ;)

You can't have bad approach angles if your driveway isn't too steep.

MattR 2006-10-04 09:42 AM

Your driveway will be too steep if you have bad approach angles.

You can have a dip at the bottom.

NevadaSTi 2006-10-04 10:24 AM

I've seen those a couple years ago, everyone at the engineering firm I worked for had a good laugh about them.

Nick Koan 2006-10-04 10:29 AM

Those look like pretty sweet jumps.

The dips are at the top of those driveways if you ask me.

The worst part is that those lots look big enough for side-load garages. Makes driveways way easier.

Bob Danger 2006-10-04 02:10 PM

I'd build a sweet kicker at the end of the driveway, it would be gnarly.

dknv 2006-10-05 05:57 AM

I wouldn't want to teach my teenager how to drive a stick shift up that. Or down that.

You're a day late to the "bash Scott because he's stressed out" party. :P

JonnydaJibba 2006-10-05 07:45 AM

Yeah he's probably had a few joints/beers/bj's by now to relieve the stress.

doubleurx 2006-10-05 12:45 PM

I saw this project a year or so ago. I still can't believe that somewhere along the way someone didn't see the potential problem..............road down here, house up there, driveway length 30 feet...........hmmmmm.

What's extra stupid is that it looks like those houses were intenionally built up high. It's not like the surrounding area is particularly steep... I swear it's as if they build up the ground to put the houses up high, but added the driveways as an after thought.

SteveM 2006-10-05 12:57 PM

flooding? Roads flood but the houses don't? :?:

If that area is subjected to that much flooding regularly, they should have just built a dock.

Actually, those driveways are really just boad ramps. The streets will be flooded as soon as the construction is done.

Maybe they plan on flooding it in the future, like a little Veinna!!?

Kevin M 2006-10-05 01:16 PM

Venice... there's not a lot of flooding in Vienna.

I'm pretty sure it's Venice that's under water. Vienna is the capital of Austria (no Kangaroos).

Edit: foiled by the Kangaroo joke!
