Actually, I think it's over the top, but not in a bad way. The rims and the exhaust looks good with it, but you need an insane bodykit to finish the package.

..or, you need to take off the wing, and lower the car and you'd have a real clean/understated Dub. 'Course, you're never very understated...

BOO 2003-08-14 08:57 AM

Oh and by the way MATT.. here ya go: and extra set .. for those "Just in case" ocassions :

 Ok , you are absolutely RIGHT there.. I was thinking the other day , what does this car need to look better ... .. I think I mught go for the kit .. Because Taking off the Wing will leave holes there :( and I have no idea how to fill them ..

If you really want to take off the wing, you can always get the holes filled, or better yet, sell the wing with the trunk attached to someone that's got a trunk to trade ya.

BOO 2003-08-14 09:22 AM

Hmmm , that's an idea... But what would I fill the wholes with ??
Ok can you tell I am not that bright when it comes to Manual Labor..
Ps: why Did I have to stumble upon this  :

Oh and Scott ( Or anyone out there listening/Reading) Would it be better, especially for these hot Temps. here in Nv. to do a Drop in K&N in the STi or CAI ?? Also would installing an Intake/Exhaust combo void warrantee.. I think I read somewhere that installing these would Void THAT part of the warrantee...

Screw K&N...put in a ITG....it puts up so much better numbers then the K&N. Here is a link that explains a little about the filter and some links to buy from....(I saw graphics showing the number gains from the ITG compared to the K&N and I was like  )

That was a BIG bottle of champagne, thanks Gary! And thanks Scott/Matt/Tyson for bringing it back to share.

GarySheehan 2003-08-17 08:26 PM

Sweet! Glad it went to a good cause!

We withheld spraying the champagne during the podium ceremony out of respect for Vanni's car and Sharp's car being totalled.

Actually, we still have the bottle intact, apperantly there is a law about bringing alcohal to the bar in nevada, so the Bartender would only let u open it in the parking lot, And thats just a bad idea. So perhaps we can still use it to christen (sp?) my new car

Ok, let's smash open the bottle on the front fender like they do with ships. :D

 we were talking about smashing it over the rear wing (totally rice) but figured we'd destroy the wing before even chipping the bottle. (that wing is rice)

So what I'm getting here is that the wing is rice... He should take it off and have the holes in the trunk filled. It's probably just dead weight anyway.

Actually, the wing looks cool, and is supposedly useful at high speed (according to Subaru). The problem with it, it totally blocks your vew of the road out the rearview. :x

MattR 2003-08-18 11:05 AM

I RIKE RICE!

Well, I would still doubt it until I saw some downforce numbers from wind tunnel testing. They can talk all they want, but OEM wings/spoilers on production cars rarely do anything except add weight and increase drag.

STIwish 2003-08-18 12:45 PM

Matt, if you decide you wanna get rid of the RICE spoiler, talk to me huh? lol, I want :)

All I can say is what I've read from Subaru press releases, with the disclaimer that I'm just repeating what Subaru said. I can imagine there's a reason that wing is so damn high. I doubt they'd block the rear view without it being functional. Plus, it's right at the same height as the WRC wing (and I know the WRC wing is engineered to be right in the airstream), it's just missing the extra verticle surfaces.

It works. There are wind tunnel numbers for the old wing floating around. Prodrive has access to a wind tunnel, which they do use.

There was a very interesting article on SWRT.com this season, (in the beginning), about the new WRC wing, and how it is actually engineered for straight ahead downforce, as well as lateral downforce for when the car is sliding sideways  cool huh. I also read that the spoiler stabilizes the car at speeds as low as 70. Phil has an intersting story about spoilers on WRX's involvong a trip to vegas, while I like them most for looks, I would love it if it actually worked.

Solomon 2003-08-18 07:39 PM

out of all the wings out there, I would only get the STi wing for my car. my 2 cents. :?
