OMG DelTaco you suck

I clearly ordered 2 STEAK & EGG BURRITOS and this is the first time in my ENTIRE life that I have not started eating my food before I got home. And when i get home what do I find!?!??!?!
2 EGG & CHEESE BURRITOS!!! W T F

Libila 2007-03-07 09:47 AM

Um, that's a reasonable mistake.

You could have gotten home and found out that they gave you nachoes with extra "sour cream" instead.

Kevin M 2007-03-07 09:48 AM

When I go to El Pollo Loco, I order my burrito without Sour Cream or Guac... and they have about an 80-85% success rate with that. :|

Nick Koan 2007-03-07 10:09 AM

You should sell the burritos online.

sperry 2007-03-07 10:19 AM

Did I steal someone's account and make a Dell Taco post? I don't remember doing it... :?:

JonnydaJibba 2007-03-07 10:25 AM

I find that the mistakes made on my fast food orders usually stem from a language barrier that shouldn't be there.

You should learn how to speak "high-school dropout".

OR, people that come to this country should learn to speak fucking English. But I'll stop that thought right there...

Why? The first wave of people that came here didn't bother to learn any of the various Native American languages. It's not like we have an official language here. English is the defacto standard right now for most of the country, but to assume that all immigrants (or citizens for that matter) should have to learn it is bigoted. Plenty of people get by just fine living in places where English isn't the most popular language.

What I think you meant to say is "People that get a job dealing with predominantly English speaking people should know English themselves as it's part of the job requirement." :P

People already in this country need to learn to speak english. If I hear one more person say any of the following, I'm getting all stabby:

- Anyways
- Down the road a ways
- Alls
- Who all/what all

Hearing John Madden trying to make a sentence could have the same effect.

Nick Koan 2007-03-07 10:49 AM

Oh, a lesson in speaking English from Mr. "G'day mate, throw another shrimp on the barbie while I drinks me stubbie"

Scotts right. I really could care less if anyone learns english. But if yout going to hire someone that is going to be dealing with other human beings... make sure they know the language.

BTW the woman who took my order was white and in her 30s.

People who want to demand that immigrants speak English should be required to immediately take a 12th grade-level spelling, grammar and writing exam. Closed book, open-ended answer, no T-F or multiple choice.

I once had someone say to me "I don't need to take no test, I already speak English good."

I'm pretty sure that being a US citizen is also a job requirement. YES I ASSUME THAT MOST LATINO LOOKING PEOPLE WORKING THE LOWEST PAYING JOBS ARE ILLEGAL. However, I don't treat them differently, I don't speak down to them, I treat them with the respect they deserve as a human being. But I silently think that there is a large chance they aren't citizens of the US.

Hell, if I ran into a janitor at Wal-Mart in the middle of the night and he spoke Russian to me I'd assume he's illegal. Sure, a lot of those people I make judgements against are probably citizens because they were born here from illegal immigrant parents, but as far as I'm concerned, we need an amendment for that.

Hate to tell you this homey, but it's the illegal immigrants that make much of our high quality of life in the US possible. With all the labor laws in this country, we literally couldn't afford our way of life without people working under the table.

Hell, even as it is with illegal Mexican labor, fruit from Guatemala is *still* cheaper to ship here than to buy from California. :(

I know, I know. And that is one of the main aspects that confuses me the most. But it doesn't bother you that we need to survive by paying illegal immigrants less than US citizens? There are plenty of homeless and very poor people that would work those same jobs. Oh wait, I forgot, transients are too good for that...

And sure, if all those who are working illegally are replaced with US citizens, those products would cost more. But I fear that we may suffer more in the long run if we allow them to keep working and coming here without regard for the law.

JonnydaJibba 2007-03-07 12:38 PM

Also, I may be young and naive, but with the increasing numbers of people immigrating illegally and more crimes being commited by those people, I don't want to have to deal with a bigger problem when I'm older.

Your fears are unfounded. Our eceonomic system is pretty well-balanced when ti comes to agriculture. We only experience problems when the governmnet tries to do things like legislate 800% increases in wges by proactively enforcing immigration on top of the massive budget impact it has on the taxes we already collected.

I've gotten to the point that I thin if you can come here and stay under the radar while you do your jorb and send the money back home wherever... good for you. As long as you don't fuck up by gettign caught committing a felony or welfare fraud or whatever, then live and let live. I am aware of how much better some people's lives are when making our minimum wage under the table and sharing a home with 7 other people compared to being on that level of society in Mexico or other Latin countries. I don't begrudge them wanting to be here.

Just stop fucking up my damned burrito orders, okay???

Bob Danger 2007-03-07 01:19 PM

Jonny that's some of the most ignorante things I've ever heard you say.

The country was founded by people who came here looking for a better life. My question to you is why was it ok for your people to come here in search of the "American Dream", but not for the people who try to do it now?

There is the argument that his family likely came here legally, while illegal aliens are not jumping through the same hoops.

His ignorant statement is about the language, IMO, and possible the lack of recognition that illegal immigration probably helps us as a nation more than it hurts us.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-07 01:33 PM

The thing hurting the country is not illegals, its people who sponge off of the welfare system... Its all these people who like to have sex but cant afford condoms... its the single people who drive huge ass suvs... its the millionaires who avoid paying taxes... its people making fraudulent insurance claims...

Yeah so im still mad about my burritos.

They are your people too Bobby. There was no American Dream back then. I don't know how I can be the ignorant one if you don't mind them breaking the law to be here. It doesn't make me happy to say that it's not my problem Mexico is such a shitty country that people must come here.

MikeK 2007-03-07 01:34 PM

I think a good start would be to force illegal immigrants to start sentences with "the thing of it is is ...".

Maybe now, but the number of people entering the country illegally isn't decreasing.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-07 02:46 PM

I dont see what about it bothers you so much Jonny. Are you mad because they are just IN the country? Or are you mad that some of them are able to get jobs that legals can get. And I just love how you say "mexico" as if all illegals are mexican.

Well for one, them entering the country is against the law. Then the people hiring them are breaking the law. And if you would have read any of my other posts, you would have seen that I stated that I have a problem with anybody immigrating illegally from anywhere. It just so happens that the vast majority of them are coming from Mexico and other Central American countries.

I spoke without thinking. I do that way to much.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-07 02:54 PM

And you know what else pisses me off. I have picked up workers off Galletti way several times and you know what I have seen, 90% mexican and hardly ever white. Yet nevada has the highest per capita homeless in the nation. So what keeps the white homeless from standing out there with everyone else to get some work. I will tell you why, because most homeless americans are lazy and would rather beg for shit then get out there and dig some dirt. Illegals take the jobs that americans "dont want to" because the pay is too low. So boohoo if your not willing to work for that, dont get butt hurt when someone else is!

IBTL

JonnydaJibba 2007-03-07 02:56 PM

I don't think that I am being heartless about it. I mean, if we really do need "guest workers" to sustain the country then let's give them amnesty and change the immigration laws so that it is easier to come here and have a better life. The worlds population isn't going to stop increasing, so we might as well deal with the extra people now anyway right?

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-07 03:15 PM

Well, it's hard to keep any thread on topic here, esp in OT. And the rest came from me assuming workers who can't speak English well at Del Taco are illegal. Which I don't think is an entirely unfair assumption, but not it's not fair to judge them, I know.

But from all this, I think that I should stop caring if millions of people are here unlawfully and more about my order being read back to me right...

I guess I need not to worry about those who are here to make a good life and more about those who are just another common criminal, and how to keep them out once they break the law.

Have I been reformed?

a Steak and Egg burrito is 100% American.

knucklesplitter 2007-03-07 04:03 PM

It's a bad assumption to think when a mistake is made at a fast food restaurant that is just because somebody cannot speak English too well and/or somebody is an illegal immigrant. I worked at a FF place my junior year in HS. Back then where I lived it was usually white middle-class kids wanting to earn some extra money who worked fast food. At that Hardees we were all white as snow and under age 20 except for one legal gay immigrant from Africa and the manager (who was white 30-something pothead). My point is that we whitebread middleclass college-bound kids made a shitload of mistakes on fast-food orders (especially at the drive-thru) and despite what MikeK might say we spoke English just fine.

What do you expect for $3.35/hour while working until 1-2am on a school night?

I want everyone to make a note of this experience. Here this young boy pale as a set of grandma's china was able to push ahead and make something of himself. The manager thought he was crazy when he pulled the hood off the deep fryer,

Manager: "matt god damn it boy. what are you doing over there with that hood?"

Matt: "Mr. Griffens I am merely removing the scoop and putting some mesh on it. Hoods look so much better without the scoop."

Manager: "Get back to your register or turn in your hat and golden arches"

Matt: (mumbles to himself) *wait till he sees the cold air intake for the McFlurry machine...
