OH! An actual performance shop in Reno

A friend of mine just opened up a "performance" shop in Reno on Mill across the street from Enterprise car rental. He knows what he's doing as far as getting/ordering the right parts. (He just got in a bunch of Sparco clothing too (mmm... Spaaaarr-co...) Check it out. Hopefully his shop doesn't die off like the others I've heard about.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-04-21 08:38 AM

whats the name of the shop? Does he specialize in anything? Were there 2 STI's parked out front yesterday?

tysonK 2007-04-21 09:35 AM

Dyno? Lifts?

nightwalker 2007-04-21 12:05 PM

no lifts yet, and too poor for a dyno, but he does have a really nice wheel mounting and balancing machine that will do rims up to 26" ;) He specializes in subby roos. He and his employee both own 06 Sti's, so it was probably their cars. The place is called High Rev Motorsports. He's very competitive with prices, and can get most any quality part you want.

Same thing.

Although you could get your tires mounted and balanced by BDTuning... but I don't really trust his work.

JonnydaJibba 2007-04-22 10:11 AM

Yeah, he's a shiester.

wrxkidid 2007-04-22 07:42 PM

Kevin M 2007-04-22 08:05 PM

I'm sure this sort of debauchery had *nothing* to do with it.

None whatsoever.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-04-22 10:21 PM

there is a clutch place in the same parking lot that has a big EXEDY sign. Dont know if that will help.

DARKSTI 2007-04-23 10:31 AM

And so it begins...

That's okay. But stop taking it out on your clutch. :p

JC 2007-04-23 09:31 PM

How many of those 43k miles are yours? Like 700? ;)

100_Percent_Juice 2007-04-24 08:59 PM

Went into this shop today. Has potential. Right now its just a good place to get some dubs.

That kills me. "20 inch wheels" and "performance" are polar opposites.

tysonK 2007-04-25 11:37 AM

100%: Do they really seel dubs? I guess they have to make money.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-04-25 01:35 PM

^ There are 2 walls entirely devoted to huge ass chrome rims. The guy I talked to said they figured that dub sales would be the staple but so far they are not doing too good in that department.

Nick Koan 2007-04-25 01:40 PM

That totally makes me want to check it out.

throw some D's on that bitch.

sperry 2007-04-25 01:56 PM

Without an AWD dyno, a tuner that knows what they're doing, licenses for all the major tuning software, a decent mechanic w/ fab experience, and a lift or two... I wouldn't call them a "performance shop". Anyone can sell parts, a real shop can build you what you need when the part doesn't exist, and a real good shop will already know what everything does from their own experience on the race track.

A wall of dubs sounds like they're just another "pimp my ride" shop, and certainly not a shop that "specializes in subarus", since there isn't a single Subaru made that you can cram 20's on w/o lifting it. Do they have TVs for my headrests too?

JonnydaJibba 2007-04-25 02:04 PM

Well, the OP did put performance in quotations.

Also, when I had gold rims, a cute young black child asked me "Eh yo are dose 20's?!" I just said yes and laughed. What a cutie.

wrxkidid 2007-04-25 02:06 PM

That's still not as good as that time we where in Tahoe and that kid asked you why your pants where so tight.

"Um, I'm a fighter pilot. These are my G-suit pants. They squeeze my legs to keep blood in my head during high G-force maneuvers."

What was really funny about the whole thing, my pants weren't even tight really. But compared to the shit he was wearing, they were.
