Nothing, I don't think they're running that event... it's Randy and Jimmy prepping a 'Vette course for all the visiting Corvette Club folks.

Kevin M 2007-07-10 05:12 PM

Yarp. We're doing the October event.

cody 2007-07-10 07:28 PM

Sounds like you better stay home D. ;)

Joeyy 2007-07-14 03:55 PM

Roll call, how did everyone do? I ended up with a 43.724. Most important ahead of Vick Chalk. Hope to get more than one PAX point but it may only be a dream. See you all in the A.M.

sperry 2007-07-14 03:59 PM

I got a -$40 on a useless vacuum bleeder, 4 decent cuts on my hands, and a clutch I'm not sure is bled properly but it doesn't matter since the whole thing needs to be replaced before next weekend anyway.

MPREZIV 2007-07-14 04:23 PM

Low 44.3xx... That surface turned to SHIT in the afternoon. It's funny since Nick was saying something about someone pouring cooking oil on the track and ruining his day. Yeah, like that. Best part is, thanks to Mr. Evans, SM gets to run in the same part of the day tomorrow as well, when it's nice and hot, and the track surface has about the same consistency as goose crap! Yay! I've literally driven on ICE before that had more grip than that!

Lack of grip, timing issues in the AM that put the afternoon group at least an hour behind schedule, and a newbie grid master in the PM that was screwing up the order of carts/one driver/two driver cars all put aside, I did have a fun time as I almost always do!

I done good. I drove it like ti was Kevin's.

MattR 2007-07-14 05:28 PM

Wow, Sounds like a pretty fucked up afternoon, I'm glad I split. Tomorrow should be a pretty trying day, we'll have a HUGE turnout tomorrow, and that re-seal is absolute garbage. I think the seal must be different than what's been used before, I don't remember it ever getting so slick.. The best I could do today was a 42.6 clean and a 42.4 w/ cone. Not real good.

Did they slurry seal the tarmac? Last time they did that, the track was *garbage* in the heat... it took a few events before the slippy was worn out of it.

wrxkidid 2007-07-14 06:07 PM

thats exactly what they did.

i ran a 45.8 then my tires turned to sludge.

Joeyy 2007-07-14 06:14 PM

They sealed the eastern side where alot of the surface was ruff and coming up. You couldn't do anything with the last four turns going into the finish but crawl. I personally over drove the finish every damn time.

I hear that one, sliding all over the place at the end... I ran 44.732...

Nick Koan 2007-07-14 07:02 PM

The surface definitely felt worse in the afternoon. I had to fight hard just to match my morning time.

MikeK 2007-07-14 07:07 PM

I crushed Dean like a bug ... LIKE A BUG!!!

MattR 2007-07-14 07:37 PM

Where did you (MikeK) and Dean finish in relation to ...say...me??? Dean all but guaranteed he'd beat me, so I want to know how that worked out for him.

MPREZIV 2007-07-14 07:42 PM

That slurry seal is the worst thing EVER!

MikeK 2007-07-14 08:22 PM

I got 41.982
Dean got 42.886.

It didn't work out too well for him at all :)

cody 2007-07-14 08:28 PM

Sucks about the slurry. I was pretty inconsistent as usual. But the car feels great, especially on a course I don't have to shift down to 1st on.

I'd like to thank D for the sick magnet.

I got a 43.1 on my 3rd run and a 43.7 on my 5th...and I even got a free run due to that damn timing issue nobody is fond of.

MikeK 2007-07-14 08:32 PM

I would also like to point out that Rachel got a 42.9!

bxracer69 2007-07-14 08:53 PM

I was sooo pissed this morning when I found out that I couldnt race.... The car is handling sooo well too. oh well, next race for sure when I have a decent paycheck

MattR 2007-07-14 09:24 PM

Nice Job Mike, well Done.

Aussies are ruining autocross!

Good job Mike. I think you actually got to use your turbo today. My extra low end torque didn't help me much. I should have dropped to first in the twisties.

My fastest raw was 42.3, still not fast enough to catch you, but I caught the cone I never catch and always point and laugh at people who do, the one on the corner before the start lights. Trying to hard... Need to focus tomorrow... My eyes weren't where they were supposed to be either damn it. To hot, old brain gets weary easily. Let's see, what other excuse can I come up with...

Oh, forgot to take my walker out of th trunk, and that weight slowed me down???

"Yes Rich, [Christensen, host of "PINKS" & "PINKS - All Out" on SPEED Channel] Mike outperformed me on that run..." -Dean

Pat R. 2007-07-14 10:52 PM

Sounds like fun as usual up there. Good luck tomorrow everyone and smoke a few V8s for me.

I miss the two-day Reno events. :( We race once a month down here and its always either Saturday or Sunday, not both.

I just got done changing tires in preparation for tomorrow's autox. Looks like a fun course:

Looks like good use of a small space.

It does seem to happen quite often. Overall, the SECCS crew ran VERY well today...

Joeyy 2007-07-15 05:40 PM

I'm currently attempting to upload todays runs to You Tube. That way, Nick can enjoy his birthday present more fully.

Not I said the fly. F you 3dr gear.

MikeK 2007-07-15 06:26 PM

Results are done, Scott has them and I'm sure he will be posting them up any minute now :D

MPREZIV 2007-07-15 06:26 PM

Nobody's EVER co-driving with me again... I've lost every time!

And anybody that wasn't there this afternoon, I'll sum it up: Jeremy's MR2 is REALLY F*ING FAST, and it caught fire for a few seconds there  The horn wire behind his aftermarket steering wheel shorted, (supplied power, not ground like our Subis) and burned the wire up all the way down behind the cluster. LOTS of smoke. Also spiked his EGT and Oil Press. gauges. EGT is okay, Oil press is shot. Car's okay overall tho. With only 215 width. mediorce tires on the back tho, it's nearly impossible to keep the damn thing going in a straight line once the turbo spools up!

We're planning to do the car swap challenge next time out. Should be fun!

Man, part of me feels sorry for you bro. Hitting cones after the finish on your last (and fast) run is no fun.

But, then again, the other part of me likes beating you by 1/10th. :D

wrxkidid 2007-07-15 06:46 PM

i feel your pain derrik. i think the whole grid heard me yeling about that.

nick when i say its grippier dont take me so seriously

Do you mean "here are my Sunday ladies", or "here is my Sunday, ladies"?

And that track looked really open, and quick... I'm surprised the times were in the 40's... what was TTOD raw? 36 something?

I wish my car had been together enough to run, it would have ripped on that course. :( Plus, now that I'm well and good out of it for SM, I'll likely be skipping more events... it's just too much work hauling out there and not worth the risk to the car.

Cory is going to be crushed by that news... :D Seriously, we will miss you. Who else am I going to get to annoy Helen with me? Though Cory helped out today in that area. ;)

wrxkidid 2007-07-15 07:35 PM

the track was ridiculously open. saturday people would spin and not hit any cones or even leave the track. sunday it was even more open. i think the yellow vette rana 35.9xx dont quote me though.

Yeah, it'll suck not being out there... but I've got to balance the risk to the car, the hassle of hauling out there (if the car were street legal, I wouldn't trailer it...), my shot at a trophy, the usefulness of autocross as seat time (it's not really useful at all for track setup tuning... it's really only good for basic shake-down after major changes), and most importantly my time with Lisa (since attempting to make every autocross plus my work schedule leaves me zero free weekends).

Haha, this is the best post I've read today. fun.

It was a great course. I had a blast, definitely have a list of things I need to work on, but the more practice the better.

I do try! Brakes weren't as warm as I thought on that second run...

cody 2007-07-16 07:13 AM

Sunday's course was a lot of fun... I had a great weekend. Thanks to the organizers and volunteers.

MattR 2007-07-16 07:35 AM

Helen is a nightmare. She has to find something to bitch about. I was sitting near her during your runs, and she's like. "Why do those damn Subaru's have to hot dog it so much?" in regards to the finish. She was oblivious to me sitting there apperantly...I responded..."It's hard work putting down better raw times in Street tired Subarus than in Race tired Corvettes, they need every inch." I laughed.

MPREZIV 2007-07-16 07:41 AM

She complains to me every once in a while, but to her credit, she did specifically come up to me and tell me that I was driving well, and that she was proud of me for "getting it under control later in the day".

Nick Koan 2007-07-16 08:12 AM

Toward the end of the day, I heard her yell at a course worker "Take that damn flag and shove it right up your ass"

MattR 2007-07-16 08:16 AM

Oh yeah, she was on fire yesterday.
