That's a poor excuse. Git yer ass up here.

k-dogg39 2007-09-19 06:39 AM

I will be there!!

How much was your room?

Nick Koan 2007-09-19 07:03 AM

~$50 a night.

Be sure to ask for the special SCCA rate, if you are staying at the Sturgeon Inn.

wrxkidid 2007-09-19 04:28 PM

with the weather reports if i go i may have an advantage with these tires ive complained about all year :)

MattR 2007-09-20 02:51 PM

Whoooo hoo! I'm looking forward to some Auto X...I will get the car sorted out tomorrow, and head out early Saturday Morning. See you guys there.

cody 2007-09-20 03:00 PM

I got the following email yesterday:

Quote:

Reno Region SCCA members and friends,

This is just a reminder that our Solo season will be back in action this coming weekend, Sept. 22-23, out at Derby Airfield near Lovelock. It'll be Rounds 14 and 15 of our Championship Series, and after this only two more Solo Championship events will remain this year (Rounds 16 and 17, Oct. 6-7 at Stead).

It's easy to get to Derby Field; simply head east on I-80, take Exit 93 and follow the signs to the airport. It's just 80 miles from Reno/Sparks, within commuting distance (by Los Angeles standards, anyway!), or you can make a weekend of it. Camping is permitted at the airfield (there's a restroom available), or you can stay in Lovelock, about 15 minutes from the event site. Many of us stay at Sturgeon's Hotel & Casino (775-273-2971) , and they have rooms available at a special SCCA rate. Our event chairmen, Randy Jones and Jim Uchytil, are also putting together a Saturday night spaghetti dinner at the airport. If you're thinking of joining us for dinner, please give Randy an e-mail at randy.jones@ firstiertpa. com, if you haven't already done so.

One more reminder: our published run groups will not apply to the Lovelock events. We're asking all entrants to plan on being at the site all day both days. That's because we expect a smaller turnout than for our Stead events, which means we need flexibility in setting up our run groups and work assignments. We appreciate everyone's understanding.

Watch for an e-mail coming soon containing more information about the Sept. 29th Fall Tour!

See you at the Lovelock events.

Jim Gandy
Regional Executive
Should I try to be there at 8:30 for Tech and to walk the course?

Nick Koan 2007-09-20 03:01 PM

Yeah, or earlier.

cody 2007-09-20 03:04 PM

Oh well, getting up at 5:45 to do something fun is way better than waking up at 6:30 to go to work.

MattR 2007-09-21 05:31 AM

Looks like a very good likelihood that we will be running in the rain Saturday, and maybe even part of Sunday. Should be crazy! We haven't had a rain event since Winnemucca 2004, right Tyson?

Nick Koan 2007-09-21 07:27 AM

Sweet. Is it going to look like Spa 98 out there?

cody 2007-09-21 08:18 AM

That's going to be fun on my almost bald tires.

Pat R. 2007-09-21 09:51 AM

Rain? What kind of psuedo-desert do you people live in?

I am right there with you!

cody 2007-09-21 10:00 AM

Shit! ...and you live in Tahoe IIRC?

k-dogg39 2007-09-21 10:01 AM

Yup! Should be fun!!!

cody 2007-09-21 10:03 AM

Well if it's gonna snow and you have better tires on other wheels, you could always swap at the event.

sperry 2007-09-21 10:04 AM

Careful folks... Lovelock is the season's fastest autocross, and it takes place on crowned runways, so every turn is off-camber. Going off in the wet will be easy, and going into the mud is going to SUCK.

k-dogg39 2007-09-21 10:05 AM

Ya. I was thinking about throwing the snows in the back just in case...

Dean 2007-09-21 10:12 AM

It's going to be in the 60s, so snow is not a real worry. 40% chance of precip on Sat. 30% on Sunday, but that is probably very early AM.

http://www.weather.com/weather/weeke...53?from=search

Bring your FRS radios for the drive back. Channel 7/7.

I am planning on heading out Sat. at about 7:00am staying over Sat. night.

For k-dogg it is (if he's planning on coming down Mt. Rose Hwy).

http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/Map...x=126&map.y=85

If anyone coming from Tahoe wants to crash at my house in Stead tonight, you're more than welcome. I have a garage for swapping wheels too.

I will be coming down Mt. Rose...

Thanks for the offer Cody, I am staying at my buddies house in Reno tonight.

See you all tomorrow! I might be running only Saturday as well...

bxracer69 2007-09-21 08:02 PM

Not to mention the runway lights bordering each side. . .

It's been raining here for a good part of the morning. Have fun out there, guys :D

I know 1st hand about those lights.

wrxkidid 2007-09-22 10:56 AM

my buddy and i might go out tommorrow. if we do im just going to ride along and maybe work a corner if they need me.

cody 2007-09-23 09:10 AM

It didn't rain out there yesterday...the clouds and NV views were beautiful though. I should have paid more attention to the course though. Apparently I DNF'd all 6 runs.

Nick Koan 2007-09-23 03:08 PM

Best autocross ever.

It didn't rain Saturday, but it rained Sunday morning. Which gave those of us running in the afternoon quite the advantage.

Edit: and only two full offs and one broken light (and it was a doozy).

Dean 2007-09-23 03:55 PM

You must have DNFed on the way home then because we only had 5 runs.

Great fun driving in the wet/rain.

We owned all the morning Corvettes on slicks by miles. Karts on wet tires had top time and I had top PAX until 2 or 3rd afternoon runs when the evil yellow Corvette killed us and then Derick did as well in PAX. I don't recall who won, but Derick got 2nd in overall PAX to beat Nick who had layed down a wicked fast run on his third run.

I think I locked up SM for the Season with 2 days of wins. It really has been a blast driving with/against Mike and more recently Matt. Wish Scott had been running and Matt had run with us all year, it really would have been a blast.

ASL battle was great as all 3 women were on street tires. Denise beat Kelly who beat Peggy in her own car... Maybe this will get randy off his high horse about street tire modifier, but I'm not holding my breath.

Don Smith won both days to hold on to a possibility of winning ES. Gandy is worried. :)

2 weeks to the season finale at Stead. Kevin and I are running this one, so we expect a good turn out and help from the SECS folks.

Nick Koan 2007-09-23 03:58 PM

Pax today went

Ray (or Ken)
Derrick
Ken (or Ray)
Nick

:D

I don't care that it was a slight advantage for the afternoon group, cause at the end of the day I'm still 4th :D

Nick, if we forget about the morning rain, we we're still all over that BSP Corvette in the dry.

Another good point.

Joeyy 2007-09-23 04:31 PM

Ok, I really don't understand the new quote under my user name. Can anybody clarify for me? Thx

wrxkidid 2007-09-23 04:42 PM

definatly fun. no runway lights died but a sign did...

i have video of nick then all of a sudden thump o shit she hit the sign! ill try to post it up.

my buddy did ok. ran an 87.xx 1st clean then a 91.xx +3 Doh! and then a 79.9x but picked up to. his goal was a 79 raw so thats good.

MattR 2007-09-23 05:46 PM

My God, I was felling pretty good about my rain runs, then the track dried up for the afternoon crew and we tumbled down the standings. Oh well, I still think it was the most fun I've ever had in my car (by myself). Seriously, rain + Autocross is insane. I really enjoy running with the SM crew, however, I would have done much better had I stayed in BSP today

Did somebody come tell you that you can't use hand held cameras in the car? The safety steward was supposed to go tell you after you had it during your buddy's run, but not sure that actually happened.

No biggie, just wanted to make sure you got the message.

bxracer69 2007-09-24 01:24 AM

I can't believe I missed the auto-x in the rain.... I love racing in the rain!!!! anyway, I just passed fernley and my seat bracket snapped leaving me laying in the backseat going down the freeway.... no good. So I turned around and just headed straight back, spent the rest of teh day at the vet's with Liz's friend whose horse had to go thru major surgery, and I finally just rolled back in the door.

sperry 2007-09-24 09:29 AM

So... who hit the sign?

And Nick 4th in PAX due to rain reminds me of this:

http://www.usgpindy.com/news/2005/im...0-06192005.jpg

 :P

Nick Koan 2007-09-24 09:40 AM

Patty

and

Ouch

MikeK 2007-09-24 09:45 AM

Derrick beat Ray Miller in pax, with Nick just behind. They were all running in the dry. Very impressive guys!

I officially now live for rain events. Driving in the rain was the most fun run group ever! There is nothing like beating corvettes by 10 seconds raw

bxracer69 2007-09-24 01:20 PM

I'm soo bummed I missed it... The seat bracket is now fixed, and if it breaks again I apparently have a serious problem. Oh well... 1 weekend left of auto-x so I can keep hoping for more rain/snow.
