Snow Donkeys 2007-8

A herd of them just went past my house.

Be careful out there!

NevadaSTi 2007-11-30 09:33 AM

They are by my work now!!!

100_Percent_Juice 2007-11-30 10:11 AM

they already ate all my grass.

Kevin M 2007-11-30 10:20 AM

I got my snow donkey repellent all ready!

Pat R. 2007-11-30 09:10 PM

It is raining down here today and the retards are running amok.

M3n2c3 2007-11-30 10:29 PM

We get so little snow that sticks out here. . . dayton donkeys are nearly extinct.

Ugh! That's the worstest! The sun-baked morons down there just PANIC at the first sign of precipitation...

I got my first snow donkey victim in at Nissan, a day before it snowed! Blue Sentra tried to remove the whole LF corner of his undercarriage on a curb on Thursday morning!

JonnydaJibba 2007-12-03 11:23 AM

We aren't gonna see anymore this year because it's never going to snow again ever.

Double Phister 2007-12-03 11:48 AM

OMG! Teh earth is warming!!

I can only hope.

cody 2007-12-05 09:15 AM

Nature got it wrong last week. It's supposed to snow in the mountains, not down here.

Joeyy 2007-12-06 01:39 PM

From this link go to 80 @ Kingvale and yes you may be able to spot a Snow Donkey from the safety of your home.

tysonK 2007-12-07 06:30 AM

Lots of snow donkey grazing fields but no sightings yet in golden valley.

Joeyy 2007-12-07 07:02 AM

F*$k, that was a long night. It's off to bed for me. Good night all.

SteveM 2007-12-07 07:44 AM

I saw herds of snow donkeys this morning on 395 from CC to Reno... (like at least 12 cars completely off the road.) Have pics, but no bluetooth until I get home.

wrxkidid 2007-12-07 08:30 AM

I saw a snow elephant outside my house...
School bus in the ditch FTMFW! It was empty which is a good thing.

cody 2007-12-07 08:35 AM

While I was stuck crawling on SB 395 before Stead Blvd, I was entertained by a NDOT rescue van trying to get unstuck from the shoulder. I guess he made it out because a minute after I passed him, he passed me on the right shoulder.

Oh, and Wintersport 3D FTMFW. :)

So far so good, but I haven't REALLY tested them yet. Just slush and an inch or two of snow so far. We'll see what happens this weekend when I head to California.

cody 2007-12-07 09:28 AM

Yeah, slush isn't a true challenge (although we got 6 inches or so in Stead). We'll see how they do on ice. Should be good if the reviews are any indication.

NevadaSTi 2007-12-07 09:44 AM

1972 Ford Gran Torino, no snow problems this morning, FTMFW!!!!

GC8.Love 2007-12-07 11:24 AM

Didn't see much coming from Cold Springs as I was limping to work.

I didn't get off of work until ~ 7:00 last night, and had asked (nicely) that Lonnie swap the winter wheels onto the Brighton ~ 2:30, as he was free.

It didn't happen, so I got stuck with some awful off-brand tires this morning. Even more funner without a RSB.

So yeah, I was going super slow down the hill at Red Rock.

Kevin M 2007-12-07 11:52 AM

No RSB is a good thing in the snow.

cody 2007-12-07 12:30 PM

I kinda like the rotation I'm getting with my 22mm RSB on full stiff. I defintely have to be careful with it though.

Ya, I am wondering what the effect will be with my huge RSB this winter....

cody 2007-12-07 04:25 PM

snap over-steer, nothing seasoned autoX veterans like ourselves can't handle.:~:

It will be tonight as it freezes into sheet ice and ice curbs. I shoveled 3" of teh heavy crap out of my driveway this AM. 2.5 hours to clear the whole thing. needless to say, i don't have to get on the Nordic Track today..

Dean 2007-12-07 07:54 PM

Setup info for snow...

1. Soften your rear bar. Front too if you can.

2. Soften your shocks to caddy like ride if you can. (Not autocross full hard)

3. Lower your tire pressure a bit. The sipes need to be able to open and close, so the 35-40PSI you run in the summer for sidewall stiffness is too much. Not so much that the tire really bulges and has a much larger footprint. Lower in the rear will also help avoid oversteer.

tysonK 2007-12-07 08:17 PM

I thought about shoveling my driveway when I got home.

I ended up only thinking about it.

Nick Koan 2007-12-07 08:37 PM

Man, I was really sick today, after I called in sick, what's the first thing I do? Yeah, I try to see how difficult it is to shovel snow off of pavers.

Thankfully, its not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

cody 2007-12-07 10:33 PM

I never bother shoveling my driveway. Well, we'll see...haven't had to since I moved here a few years ago.

Just went for a drive to pickup pizza and did pretty well on the ice rink...er roads. The only time I seem to lose traction is a bit of power oversteer if I get silly.

moose 2007-12-08 11:36 AM

So friday, I had to drive myself to school on my summer tires that arent even all seasons. Only because Bob cant fix my Re92. Bur even with the Kuhmos, My car didn't lose traction until I made it.

tysonK 2007-12-08 01:16 PM

Snow Donkeys are no longer an issue...Enter Toyota FJ with physics exemption. I actually went S.D hunting today and they were all busy hiding behind trees. Icy slopes, treacherous ditches and frozen water crossings were no match... hahaha.

Dean 2007-12-25 10:33 PM

Where did you go? Looks kinda like up by Boca/Stampede...

sperry 2007-12-25 11:05 PM

Damn, looks fun!

MattR 2007-12-25 11:36 PM

Yeah, I went up Dog Valley from Verdi, towards Boca/ Stampede. Normally pretty simple trails until they have snow and ice on them...Good times indeed.

tysonK 2007-12-26 07:44 AM

the back shot of the FJ looks like TOYOTA ad!

100_Percent_Juice 2007-12-26 08:01 AM

Matt I saw a silver FJ driving through town that blew my mind. It looked a prerunner version with a lot of the crappy plastic bumper parts taken off and it looked badass. I thought it had fiberglass fenders on it but after long web searching I couldn't find any. Keep your eyes out for it.

MattR 2007-12-26 10:41 AM

Sweet, yeah, a bunch of guys are going the prerunner route with the FJ, they look sick. I'll keep my eye out.

I'm kind of useless, unless you want me to pushing every button inside of your car, or put the wrong wheel weights on after I balance your tires.

MattR 2007-12-27 10:02 PM

Holy Shit, the Snow Donkeys are out in effect tonight...I was having dinner at my friends house in Virginia city...To exit his house, there is a 150 yard climb at a 8% grade or greater, covered in snow and ice. My freind said "Just gun it and you'll make it" Well I pussy footed it up and spun out out teh top, slid down the hill all the way to the bottom. Then, I straightened out, got a huge terrifying 45 mph run at this bitch and flew to the top...good times. ANd that just gets you back out to the highway!!! haha Anyway, passed many struggling motorists all the way back to north reno...

I did a slow-mo 360 down the WalMart driveway on Pyramid last night.

OH NOES!! Attack of the Red X!!!!11ONE!1

Dean 2008-01-04 10:04 AM

Soggy Donkeys are probably as bad as snow donkeys, and probably smell worse.

Be careful out there. While snow/ice causes you to slide, water can do that and worse. Standing water can grab your tires, wrench the wheel out of your hands and slam your car into things.

sperry 2008-01-04 10:09 AM

WTF is a "soggy donkey"? The danger in the rain is the furious water weasel. Wet donkeys are just pathetic, not dangerous.
