Awesome! Lemme know when we get cards and posters, so I can push them on my customers!

sperry 2008-02-25 11:06 PM

BTW: the new RenoSCCA website is up:

http://www.renoscca.org

Matt, let me know if you see anything wrong w/ the schedules I put up there. Also, I'm going to be setting you up w/ an admin account so you can manage the solo stuff if needed.

Also, the new Reno SCCA forums are running... but there's nothing up there. Feel free to rush on over to get yourself an OG low member number. Member numbers 3 and up are free!

http://www.renoscca.org/forums

Nick Koan 2008-02-26 12:10 AM

make that 4 and up!

MattR 2008-02-26 07:46 AM

Scott, the site is really taking shape and I'm really excited for the impact this will have on the club. It will definately make everyone's life easier, including yours.

cody 2008-02-26 08:19 AM

I joined the Forum too. :D

Dean 2008-02-26 08:22 AM

Please use real names! I believe the board voted that we would use real names and at least to post it would be restricted to SCCA members.

Scott should be able to change names for you handle users when he is board. :)

And the site looks great by the way except the newsletter link is broken!

Edit: None of the "New Document" links work.

Edit2: Or the ones in Documents and Forms...

MikeK 2008-02-26 08:32 AM

It looks great!

All the links in the "New Documents" section on the right side of the home page are borked

MikeK 2008-02-26 08:35 AM

The "members list" section on the forum is empty for me

Well since I only make it to like 6 events a year, I won't register. I've done the math, and for the number of events I tend to go to, I'd spend more $$ if I registered for the SCCA than to pay $35 each time. Most of my AutoX questions have been answered here anyway.

It is different this year. I am not sure how many "Weekend Memberships" you can get, but at around 4-6 events you would be better off becoming a member.

JonnydaJibba 2008-02-26 09:01 AM

I was thinking it was $75 dollars to register. But the SCCA site confirmed for people 24 and under it's $45. So it would beneficial to register.

Also, this year everyone has to be members if they want to run.

There will be "weekend" memberships available, but for insurance reasons everyone has to be a member.

Kevin M 2008-02-26 09:55 AM

Sweet, my member number there is the same as on i-club.

I believe the conversation at the board meeting regarding non-members on the website was that we could limit it if we end up needing to. But frankly, the website should be available to non-members so they can ask questions about joining.

It's really not a big deal to moderate a small forum... it's not like we'll be getting 1000 spammers a day... we certainly don't have any big issues here at SECCS, and I expect the RenoSCCA forums will take a while before it's bigger than here.

I added a "Real Name" field to the profile. You can use whatever handle you want, but it'd be nice if folks were willing to display their real names as well. For some folk's insurance reasons, it's not required, as they'd just make up something anyway *cough* Mel Torme *cough*.

I also added the Car and Class fields that we've got here.

Nick Koan 2008-02-26 12:53 PM

yeah, I gave myself a semi-reasonable name over there. nmhansen

Kevin M 2008-02-26 12:58 PM

But you put Nick Koan in the real name field right?

What's the price of this so called Weekend Membership? I really think this is going to deter a lot of new comers, as well ass people who don't run enough events to justify the cost of a membership like myself.

I for one think that is gay.

I don't know for certain, but I believe it won't be significantly different (pricewise) than it is now.

What Nick said.

SCCA National is requiring that all participants be SCCA members due to insurance reasons starting this season. So, instead of making everyone sign up, they're doing a "weekend membership" program that costs $15 for two days of SCCA membership. Since everyone's a member now, Reno SCCA will no longer be charging a non-member rate for the event. So, it's actually $5 cheaper for running a weekend as a non-member than it was before, but it's $5 more if you run just one day on a weekend.

M3n2c3 2008-02-26 06:30 PM

It's kinda funny. . . I now have full weekends free, but make less money than I did before. . . so I'm still unsure how many events I'll be able to make. I'll certainly try for more than last season :P

So it's going to cost me $40 to run one day instead of $35, that's not so bad. That is an excellent set up for people that can run both days. How are the logistics of this going to affect registration?

dknv 2008-02-27 09:37 AM

One more option that was discussed at the NORPAC Convention -- Race Volunteer Incentive membership. I'm going to ask Carol Deborde for more information about this, but what I wrote down is this:

If you are new to SCCA, and work as a volunteer for at least 2 races, you can purchase scca membership for $30, and subsequent years that you continue as a volunteer will be a discounted rate. (If they said what the discounted rate what, I didn't hear it.)

So -- if you go out to RFR and work a Track Trials and the June 14/15 National Road Race -- you get a pretty good deal on membership. If you get real excited about being a race volunteer, SFR will also gladly take your help. They have races at Thunderhill, Laguna Seca, even the NASCAR race at Sears Point.

That reminds me. I believe if you work a Reno track event, you get a credit/discount applicable to either Reno track or SOLO events. Carol knows more, but working out at RFR could get you a big price break on a Solo season.

Joeyy 2008-03-01 12:28 AM

I've never attended the test and tune. Any chance that you could fit in a little kart time at the end of the school? I'm just looking for a little surface time penting the kart being ready verses its current state. Thanks D-

vic 2008-03-03 10:23 AM

anyone notice this schedule is different than the one on the scca site. also if you are planning on running kuhmo v710's 245/45/17 they just went up $21.00 per tire at tire rack to $220.00. i am going to try the hankook z214's 245/40/17 c70 compound $199.00 per tire.

MattR 2008-03-03 03:37 PM

The schedule on the scca site is wrong, not sure what happened there, hopefully Scott can fix it soon.

Kevin M 2008-03-03 03:40 PM

Dammit... I just wrote in the season on my wall calendar at work using the site's schedule.

sperry 2008-03-03 03:54 PM

No one is telling me what this error is. Kinda hard to fix it w/o details.

Kevin M 2008-03-03 04:36 PM

The august events on the renoscca.org schedule are one week too late.

sperry 2008-03-03 06:39 PM

So, it sounds like someone better update this document too:

http://www.renoscca.org/documents/Ge...egion%2008.pdf

'cause that's where I got the solo dates.

I don;t know where that document came from. That was a vry early preliminary version of teh schedule that had yet to be approved by the airport, thus the shufflin. Looks good now scott.

That document was from Jim. I got him to send me an updated one today. Everything should be updated now.

MikeK 2008-03-05 04:38 PM

I just saw this on nasioc:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1453444

It looks like the latest edition of fastrack proposes that the STi and EVO get moved from BSP to ASP!

Has anyone heard anything about this?

sperry 2008-03-05 11:34 PM

That's a load. Matt's SP STi was pretty well setup and it was not at all a dominant car in our region. Sure the Vettes are national champs and all, but if the STi were an overdog, I'd expect Matt to win one or two despite his relative lack of experience.

But on the other hand... here's an ASP car:

http://www.volan.ro/wp-content/uploa...he_911_GT2.jpg
(yes, that's the $200,000 turbo 911 GT2 that has 462hp bone stock, never mind what it probably makes in ST trim with the boost cranked up)

I totally see the STi being able to compete!

....and Mike, this is the sort of stuff to pad the RenoSCCA forums with!

A1337STI 2008-03-10 04:04 PM

Vic , where do you see the hankook z214's for 199 ? :)

Are the Z214's an autocross tire like the 710 ?

tires are confusing :P

The soft compound alegedly is though not many are running them as far as I know.

Joeyy 2008-03-18 12:03 PM

Attempted to check out Sacramento's results from there first event. Nothing posted yet. Checking to see if the how the regulars that come up to Reno performed. Anybody have any news from that side of the hill?

A1337STI 2008-03-18 05:16 PM

Nada.

who went to the Sacramento event? i was thinking about going but my project car needed work :|

Joeyy 2008-03-20 12:44 PM

Yep, kart has some new shoes on the way. All four corners was less then one tire from last year.

JonnydaJibba 2008-03-28 02:52 PM

Welp, I finally signed up for the SCCA, and registered for the forums. I haven't received an email to let me post yet, but I'm sure I will sometime. I can't wait to get out there.

Kevin M 2008-03-28 04:47 PM

Nice sig there Jon. I would have gone with "Blaine is a pain, and that is the truth" personally.

WRX06TR 2008-06-05 01:00 PM

Quick question...Am I going to have to run Street Mod because my wheels are wider (17x8) than my stockers? I thought it would have been Street Touring but that is only limited to widths no wider than 7.5.
