Reno-Fernley ~ 4.1 Mile Track!

Hey Everybody!

I hope this beautiful spring weather is treating you all well and that you are able to get out and enjoy it! We at T.E.A.M. Racing have an event at Reno-Fernley Raceway on Memorial Day weekend, May 24-25. Talk about a perfect time of year to go play on the 4.1 mile track! The top is a lot like a huge autocross, while the bottom is a huge horsepower festival. Sign up for both days and you will wind up with nearly five hours of track time!!! Cost is $225 for one day, $400 for the whole weekend. As usual, the fee includes a supply of bottled water and Gatorade, healthy snacks, catered lunches, and expert instruction. The registration form is at www.onemain.com/~bonster/rfr.pdf If you have any problems accessing the form, simply email or PM me and I will send you over a copy of the form.

It may be a bit of a drive for some, but TRUST ME – it will be worth the drive! :) Let’s welcome this wonderful weather and reward ourselves to an outstanding weekend at the track!

Oh man,

I wish that didn't conflict with our Reno SCCA solo schedule :(

Again. :(

Hey Bonni,

I enjoyed THill last Friday, I'm working on getting some of the Tahoe/Reno guys signed up for RFR. Dennis is bringing the RX's up so we'll be there! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

Loren

Like I said over at the RenoSCCA forums, this is going to be a tough choice. The TEAM event at RFR is usually the most fun RFR event of the year, but I was already planning on going to Hawthorne this year.

So, I'm either going to have to go back on attending Hawthorne, or skip the best RFR event of the year. :(

Matt, Mike, Dean... etc... you guys are all going to Hawthorne, right? Half the fun of the TEAM event is driving with you guys there!

Tahoe C5 2008-04-10 02:23 PM

Fernley 35 Miles vs. Hawthorne 132 Miles.
RFR 5 hours seat time vs. Hawthorne 10 minutes seat time.
Your bed vs. Hawthorne's finest accomadations.

HMMMMM.....think about it.

Well, the most fun from either event comes from the camaraderie. So if everyone's in Hawthorne, it's going to be the more fun place regardless of seat time.

Ideally, we'd get all the cool people to skip Hawthorne and come to RFR. ;)

Nick Koan 2008-04-10 02:34 PM

If only the RFR event would get me some season points :p

Right on.

MikeK 2008-04-10 03:23 PM

If I wasn't stuck doing the timing at Gaythawne I would definately be at this event :(

It seems to me you should be able to train someone to cover it for you by then... :?:

Bonster 2008-04-10 03:41 PM

Dang. This seems to happen pretty much every year. I wish I'd seen that SCCA schedule ahead of time. I would have booked a different weekend just so you guys could make it. And hey Sperry . . . cool people WILL be there. Loren and I are cool people, aren't we??? Huh??? Hmph. ;)

Bonster 2008-04-10 03:42 PM

Hey Mike . . . call in "sick" a few days before. We won't tell! And we'll delete this thread so nobody will find out. Bwahahaha. I am SUCH a bad influence. ;)

Of course you and Loren are cool. I'm just trying to get the cool autocrossers out to the track too. But the lame autocrossers can go to Hawthorne as far as I'm concerned.

I am the worst salesman in the world, I spend all my time bitching to everyone who will listen how much timing sucks, then I can't find anyone to take over

Actually I am already planning on faking my death then having cosmetic surgery to get out of it.

Bonster 2008-04-10 03:50 PM

Hey Nick . . . just get TTOD at your next several autox's and you'll still have plenty of points. ;) They drop your two (? if memory serves ?) worst events anyway.

Nick Koan 2008-04-10 04:11 PM

4 in our region I believe :D

But, much like Mike I am in a volunteer position that needs to be there, registration. So, unfortunately, there isn't much I can do. :(

The lame autocrossers will probably still be able to spank the "wussies" from LV.

Bonster 2008-04-10 04:20 PM

As usual, the SECCS forum is one of my favorites to post in . . . folks are so much fun here, even if they can't make it to our event. At least this thread has made me laugh. I'm sure we'll get a good group of Subies up there. You'll get to see me drive Loren's Vette. Yeah, sure. :D Careful where you leave your keys, Loren. ;)

MattR 2008-04-10 04:25 PM

Yeah, we have an autocross on that day every year.

MPREZIV 2008-04-10 04:32 PM

Mmm... I usually don't attend out of town auto-x events. If my wallet agrees, this I may have to do. Never been on RFR before!

Bonster 2008-04-10 04:35 PM

Love the South Park avatar MPREZIV. We have plenty of instructors more than happy to help you as much as you need them. :)

Last year I had the RFR event the weekend after Father's Day . . . also an autox weekend. I can't win! Wahhhh!!! :D I will try and ask you all next year when your autocrosses are so that I can get more of you out to RFR. Subies BELONG on that track. :D

If there is any chance you can make it, then go for it. The track is eleventeen thousand times more fun than autox, and the TEAM event is always one of the best ways to do RFR

If you're not going to be at Hawthorne, you better be at RFR!

dknv 2008-04-11 08:22 AM

Maybe next year the track event could be Sun/Mon (Memorial Day) -- then I'd try to go to the Monday event after driving home from Hawthorne. (3 straight days of racing!)

Bonster 2008-04-11 09:34 AM

I don't think anyone would come if I had an event on Memorial Day. Most of us bribe the signifigant other into going to the weekend event in return for doing chores on the holiday. :D That's kinda why I picked that particular weekend. It also means less money lost for missing work, as Memorial Day for many of us is a paid holiday.

Bonster 2008-04-11 09:37 AM

By the way . . . we might be able to extend the event and take Memorial Day too, if it is availabe and if there is enough interest. :)

Like I said, if my wallet agrees... I dunno about you guys, but $400 can be a little steep for me some months, when I haven't been saving to spend it.

Bonster 2008-04-11 08:05 PM

MPREZIV . . . we do have payment plans . . . not usually, but contact me and I can work something out for ya. All ya gotta do is ask. :)

Dean 2008-04-12 08:29 AM

I'll be there instructing.

Bonni puts on great events, I highly recommend coming out. The instruction is pretty good too. ;)

Bonster 2008-04-12 08:33 AM

Yeah . . . whatever you do, get a ride along with Dean BEFORE lunch. Lol. Just kidding. :D Glad to have you with us Dean.

sperry 2008-04-12 09:18 PM

Well crap, if Dean's going, then I'm in 99%. Dean's too much fun to chase around the track, and he's never running in my group at the trials events.

Bonster 2008-04-13 08:29 AM

We've got a wagon from the I-Club list coming, too. Looks like the Subies will be the dominant marquee for this event again. :)

doubleurx 2008-04-13 03:16 PM

I've done two of these events and Bonnie does an awesome job. If you can make it definately do it. RFR is really fun.

You should bring the new car out...

I'd really like to get the C4 out there. The 335 would be fun, but I have no tires for tracking it. Lately my fun budget has been absorbed by music and of course, the IRS!

Bonster 2008-04-13 05:20 PM

Ahhh . . . so what goodies did you buy music-wise? New amps? Mics? Get better-paying gigs and come join us. :D

legasti 2008-04-13 06:21 PM

If I can get the time off I will be there.... but I always have trouble getting time off.

Bonster 2008-04-14 08:27 AM

Just quote the Blues Brothers, legasti. Tell your boss, "We're on a mission from God." Yeah, that should work. :D

Yes everything - unfortunately for me (fortunate for the rest of the world) it is a hobby, so money only goes out.

Bonster 2008-04-15 11:10 AM

Maybe we can set something up where you can play at the track. Wait, no electricity. Dang it. Well, when they do get electricity, maybe we can pay you to come out and play for us at lunch or something. You really should charge something. :)

sperry 2008-04-15 12:18 PM

There's electricity, as long as they remember to start the generator!

Bonster 2008-04-15 12:30 PM

Oh yeah . . . DUH Bonni. You're right, I fogot about the generator. I have a bigger laptop this year (17" widescreen) too, so we'll plug it in so that you can stare at the track map during downloads again. :)

doubleurx 2008-04-16 11:36 AM

You are too kind Bonster! Before I can track again, I really need to decide which car and mod appropriately. The 335XI would definately need a track wheel/tire set and the C4 would need a roll bar. C4 would probably be the less expensive endeavor as they run around $800 and still allow the top to operate! Either one would also require something very, very, very nice for the wife or I will also need to make the car my bed!

Bonster 2008-04-16 11:51 AM

Why don't you just invite your wife to play at the track with you? That might solve everything! Lol.

Priorities, man... just sell the house! After all, you can sleep in the car, but you can't race the house.

doubleurx 2008-04-16 12:06 PM

Well the wife is definately not into tracking, so I don't think bringing her along would really help much. Don't worry Scott, I won't show my wife your post!

I sometimes wonder if my GF checks up on me over here...

um... hi honey!

Bonster 2008-04-16 07:04 PM

I guess I got REALLY lucky . . . my fiance actually ENCOURAGES my track / race stuff. Or maybe he's just buttering me up for the next time he wants to buy some expensive electronic geek-squad gizmo. Lol. I told him I'm fine with a 54" flat screen (wall hung) 1080 LED tv as long as I get some new tires and rims out of the deal. We'll get along famously! Lol. :D
