So I was supposed to get a cyst removed yesterday but it ruptured on it own but I do have to get my tonsils out :~:

I've been tonsil free for over 20 years.

I still have my tonsils, my appendix and my wisdom teeth. Maybe I'm immortal?

I still have my wisdom teeth too but I need those out soon too.

If you need a recommendation for a great doctor, I can give you one.

Thankfully I still have my appendix. That's where the soul is.

It's okay...I just gotta wait about 2 weeks till the surgery then i'll be in hell for about a week then i'll feel so much better! I can't wait to start feeling better again. It's been like this since January :~:

I got my tonsils out last summer. Ice cream gets old hella fast. I actually had one of my tonsils rupture. Waking up in the middle of the night with a mouthful of blood is TITS! But the day it happened I was up and moving around a lot so I think that had something to do with it. So my advice is STAY PUT! Get bed ridden and have Nick take care of you. Ensure's make for good between meal supplements too. Make sure to get you daily calorie intake. I lost 15 pounds in two weeks! I don't think you have 15 pounds to lose...

Thanks! Nick's sister got her's out in December and she dropped to 80 pounds. I hope I don't lose too much weight...I would be a stick.

When I had my wisdom teeth out (did all 4 at once, but still not quite as big a deal as a tonsillectomy) I was at Laguna Seca the next day 'cause AtomicLabMonkey was driving at the Skip Barber school. I actually felt really good right after surgery. It wasn't until about 2 days later that I started feeling like crap... 'course that was mostly because I went all dry-socket on one of 'em from talking and eating like normal immediately after the procedure.

So, listen to the doctor and take it easy. I'm a 'tard and decided that the doctor was an idiot 'cause I felt just fine the day after the teeth came out. It takes a day before all the swelling and pain kicks in. :eek:

i'm afraid of how much pain im gonna be in. People ive talked to say they feel like they are in hell the first week and can't really eat.

Stay on a STRICT medication schedule. I was taking my liquid hydrocodone every 3 hours. Even if was sleeping I'd set an alarm to wake up and take it and go back to sleep.

I got all 4 of my wisdoms out at the same time. That was... interesting. Excluding getting up to pee and waking up in pain to take medicine I slept for like 32 hours straight.

I once had a tonsil swell up so big it almost sealed off my throat. I was spitting in a cup because swallowing just wasn't happening. The Urgent Care Doc-in-a-Box put me on antibiotics but it just got worse. So I ended up in the ER late one night. The ear/nose/throat guy on call showed up He was this big m-f'er with huge hands, and he proceeded to hold my mouth open wilst he lanced the cyst without giving so much as an aspirin and only a little novacane. Nothing like the feel of a cold scalpel to the back of the throat, huh? And the taste - OMFG. I kicked and screamed so bad they heard me in the waiting room. You should have seen the look on the nurse's face. She talkied him into giving me a shot of Demerol afterwards. I wish I could remember his name, because you DO NOT WANT HIM to go near you. I considered a restraining order myself. He told me I needed my tonsils out, and told him maybe but there would be "no f***ing way you will be doing it".

Anyway... I still have what's left of mine 7 years later.

Wow! My Doctor is Dr. Romaneschi and he is one of the best doctors i've heard of!

That is not him. I just googled and I think I remember now, but I do not want to say who unless I am really sure.

Did he work in Carson and Gardnerville?

I doubt it. His office in in downtown Reno.

I finally got my tonsils out on Wednesday and this is the worst pain ever!! I can't eat or drink anything!!

Yeah it's no fun! I overdosed on my pain meds so I'm not taking as much.

I must have done the same when I had knee surgery last time. After 3 days of misery I decided that no meds was better, so I cold turkeyed 'em. I really can't see how it is possible to get hooked on those, bleh!

Yeah the antibiotic is fine but just the taste of the pain meds make me wanna throw up.
