Speeding Tickets...

Haha I was showing my girlfriends little brother how fast my car can go, (cuz he doesnt belive that STi's can eat his dad's mercedes for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and I got on 80@ Robb. Punched through the gears up to 135 before hitting the north McCarran exit. I look to my left, fuck, Hwy Patrol just chillin in the median. I just said fuck and started pulling over before he even turned his lights on (probably why he was nice about it) and wrote me a ticket for 103mph.

Haha $240 ticket.
I know, I am :brill:

I need to get a valentine, like now...

Whats your guys' highest tickets for?

DARKSTI 2009-02-05 06:01 PM

I hope you have a good full-body fire resistant suit...

Bob Danger 2009-02-05 06:01 PM

I don't get tickets. I wonder why? Maybe it's because I don't drive like an asshole on public streets.

WRX06TR 2009-02-05 06:09 PM

Seriously

100_Percent_Juice 2009-02-05 06:16 PM

Wow. That could have cost you a TON more money. I think at that speed the can even tow your car and give you a reckless driving. Plus its normally $10 for every MPH over the speed limit.

Nick Koan 2009-02-05 06:17 PM

I once got a ticket for driving too slow. That's how fast I am.

van 2009-02-05 06:24 PM

uh oh,

I mean, Awesome!

Don't be a dumbass! You're driving around someone's little brother, excessively speeding in an area that is highly patrolled. BTW a Valentine will not save you if the cop is using spot radar or in a hilly area that blocks the signal till you're in the cops sight and it's too late. That's one of the reasons they love that area.
Do yourself and everyone else a favor, next time save it for autocross/track, and for godsakes don't post up about it. What a horrible idea.

Sorry dude, we all look really far down on automotive shenanigans on public streets.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-02-05 06:40 PM

I think there should be a sticky about this subject to keep all new members from getting flamed and to just keep it off the board. If there is already a sticky... I have my suit on.

No, Let them learn the hard way:)

Not to rub it in everyone's face but this is why owning a old ass GC rules.
If I had bought a wrx my insurance for a year would have cost more than 2x the cost of my engine swap, If I had bought a STI?, shit. I practically got paid to insure my car. It cost a grand total of $48 to add my Impreza to my Forester policy a year.

k-dogg39 2009-02-05 07:12 PM

Oh my...
:picard:

MattR 2009-02-05 07:25 PM

This is why I have to drive my FJ every day. That part of town was the home to our Subaru meet for years, and I would be afraid to go back up there because this has happened in that same spot so many times.

GusGus91 2009-02-05 07:47 PM

2 months after I got my license i was coming home from arenacross, and it was like 12:30 and my mom called me and told me to hurry and get my ass home. So I got to the light at geiger grade and was doing 65 instead of 45 and i saw headlights, and i thought "oh screw it its nobody". But i looked really quick as i passed him going the opposite way... I just instantly pulled over before he even turned his lights on. Super nice hwy patrol. I still got a ticket but went to traffic school and got it taken off my record. I've gotten 1 other ticket, but it wasnt speeding and it was the stupidest reason on the planet, and the bike cop was just trying to be an asshole, with his knee high leather boots.. But since that day, i've gotten pulled over 1 time for speeding but no ticket, just a warning to slow down. also a really nice cop. since that, I havent driven like a complete asshat on public streets. I learned my lesson.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-02-05 09:09 PM

^Did you get a ticket for riding your dirt bike on the street?

zpeed 2009-02-05 09:27 PM

You hang out in a wrong site. Go find some local punk street racer site. You'll fit right in. Most people here are drive fast on the track.

No, but i did get pulled over for that twice.. One time doing a wheelie down geiger. What is it with cops, me, and geiger grade?

The other time was (long story short) failure to yeild to a dumbass pedestrian who decided they wanted to run out in the intersection of Mccaran and Virginia by chillis, when i had a green light, and i had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting his stupid ass, and so the officer pulled me over for "failure to yield to a ped"...

100_Percent_Juice 2009-02-05 09:39 PM

You've gotten a ticket for almost reckless driving, and you have had your car how long?

Correct me if I'm wrong but reckless driving is counted at 45+mph over the posted speed limit? so you got by, by the hair on ur ass dude.. if he didnt ticket you for 103, you probably would have been taken into custody, and had your car towed.

Dean 2009-02-05 10:57 PM

As has already been said, no offense intended, but you are an idiot...

[Soap box]

How long have you had this car? Hours? And you think you know how to drive it? Are the tires even rated for 130 and did you inspect them before going that fast?

And what exactly were you showing the kid? How to be a F' up, or how to get dead? It would have been way cool if you had killed or maimed him. That would have surely been a hit with your girlfriend.

Cop should have reamed you for having the kid in the car.

Being stupid on the street is seriously frowned upon on this board. Not saying we are all angels who don't get tickets, but that is just plain F'ing stupid. We drive fast, but on a track or other controlled environment.

Come out and get your ass handed to you by a Civic, Miata and/or a RS at a Solo or get passed by a Miata or MR2 at Reno-Fernley and you will begin to understand how little you know and how uncool you are. You might end up learning something and maybe some day become a good driver. [/Soap Box]

Bob Danger 2009-02-05 11:17 PM

This is a bit out of character, but maybe we are being a bit to harsh on this guy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are a younger guy, right Arrows? We all did stupid things with cars when we where young. Instead of just running him out of here, and to the local street racing forum, where he's going to get bad advice, and encouragement, we should be trying to help him.

Arrows if you enjoy spirited driving and would like to do it in a responsible, safe, and fun environment send me a PM.

Dean 2009-02-06 07:22 AM

I thought there was something that described us as a club and our "policies" or thoughts on public displays on the cover page or in the newbie sticky post, but I can't find it in an obvious place.

I apologize if I was a bit harsh, and I do encourage you to come out and drive with us at Solo or PDX events and see what we are talking about and learn to drive in a relatively safe environment.

I teach Teen driving and just last weekend had to go over the statistics for a presentation which are absolutely terrifying and when I hear somebody "showing off" to what I assumed was a kid or young adult, it pissed me off. Auto accidents are the number 1 killer of teens and the odds double when there is another teen in the car...

I was also the event chairman for a hill climb where we had a double fatality that we can only assume was an overconfident driver showing off for his fiancee's best friend in the passenger seat. How tragic is that? I can only imagine that it might have been been worse is if he had survived...

So, enjoy your new car, but remember it is not a toy. Come out and join us, learn about your new car and maybe a bit about how to drive it. We will not hold this post against you if you understand where we are coming from.

Yes, you can. Failure to yield, obstructing traffic and failure to maintain minimum speeds where posted are all ticketable and probably more. Joey?

I never have, really, but you can get pulled over.

Driving way too slow, especially on the freeway when everyone expects at least a certain speed, can be dangerous.

Amusing to me, reading a story where another STi is asshatting on the same stretch of road where I got pulled over for someone else's idiocy...

Nick Koan 2009-02-06 07:51 AM

Speaking of which, I saw that guy the other day Cory.

Still sliding his car around on an intersection of Double R and Sandhill.

I get nicer when I drink.

cody 2009-02-06 09:05 AM

I got written up for 125 in a 65 like 5 years ago when my car was stock. It was an open empty freeway with no onramps/offramps so I decided to take my chances and see how fast my newish car was. There was a speed trap on the other side of the freeway with a CHP Crown Vic and Camaro hanging out in some trees. They came screaming across the median, sideways with rooster tails of mud. I pulled over so fast my stock pads were smoking. The Camaro actually had to swerve around me to avoid hitting me...or maybe he just wanted to "cage me in". They pulled their guns on me and looked like they were ready to open fire. The first thing the cop said, (after, "throw me your keys!!!") was "Why would you do that!!!!!??". Of course I had no answer for him. When I told them I was heading to Grandma's they mellowed out and decided to only write me a ticket.

I think the judge had me pay ~$400 and my insurance was sky high until I moved to NV, which somehow expunged my record.

^You guys should replace that, "No Hay Excusa Por Violencia Domestica" bumper sticker with that. :P

ScottyS 2009-02-06 12:46 PM

Arrows, getting flamed on the internet and $200 is a small price to pay for a potentially very serious mistake.

There is a lot of responsibility that comes with owning a high-performance machine, and in our society in general we don't pride ourselves on teaching good driving skills or judgment. The steady progression of kids totaling cars is proof of that.

Take the advice, change your approach, let your judgment be equal to the car's capability. There are some pretty fun ways to find the limits of your machine without getting yourself and others killed.

Stick around, you won't be sorry.

EDIT: oh, in answer to your question - I have gotten 3 tickets in my life, the last one was five years ago for doing 45 in a 35 in front of the Forestry office in Carson on 395. Meh.

Isn't the highest ticket in the US that dude in a Veyron in TX or something? No Subie will ever equal that.....

I thought the highest ticket was some guy on a turbo motorcycle that got busted for either 200+ mph or 200+ mph over the limit.

Poor Arrows, been here less than a month. I hope to see him on the track.

100_Percent_Juice 2009-02-06 03:57 PM

He has not been online since his first post. His reaction to this thread will foreshadow his future participation as a long lasting seccs member. IMO this is not even close to being SECCS Flamed. This is like getting a sun burn from planting flowers all day where as a regular SECCS flame fest is like getting naked and then deciding to drop a frozen turkey into a vat of hot grease.

+1. 100% took his hazing like a champ.

I think he and Cody probably took some of the harshest SECCS has to offer, and both seemed to come through it with their senses of humors intact, and are some of the better contributing members these days.

I kinda feel bad for jumping on them so much. But just kinda. :P

I like to believe that our hazing, in fact, helped them to become better people.

In fact, without our hazing, they wouldn't be nearly half the men they are now.
