RE-01R's on closeout at tirerack

FYI...

I just bought some 245's for $116 each from the tirerack. Looks like they are on closeout right now!

Dean 2009-02-24 08:03 AM

That is a sweet deal!

Sick deal Yo.

Kevin M 2009-02-24 12:02 PM

Damn... according to the guy I just talked to, there are no RE01Rs in any 17" size left. :(

sperry 2009-02-24 12:05 PM

Holy crap... 255/40/17's were $79/ea!?!?!

That's only $200 per tire cheaper than the Sport Cups.

van 2009-02-24 12:16 PM

I hope they still have some 16s when I get home
Edit; Shipping next friday! Adios crappy Falkens!

MattR 2009-02-24 03:58 PM

I'm such an idiot, I had planned to order some 255 this mrning and now they're all gone.

Wait, why are they selling them at close-out prices if there's a big shipment of them coming in?

And Matt, if they do have some 255/40/17s when you call, I'll pay you cash if you can add 4 to your order for me at $79/ea!! I know there's no way I'll be able to screw around on the phone ordering tires tomorrow morning.

No Problem man, I'll order 8 if I can get that 79 Price. I'll call you if there's some variation in price...

Also, as far as a truckload coming in...often times suppliers are committed to PO's or batches well in advance, this could be a final push from Bridgestone. I'm hoping that's the case...I'll call early tomorrow.

Sweet, thanks man! Those 255's will stack nicely with the unmounted 245's I bought almost 2 years ago that I still got sitting in my garage.

The 245 RE01Rs are going on the SVX if I can get 255's for cheap.

Something like this,
I first tried ordering them from my iphone on the webpage=sold out
I then called Luke and left a message. Being impatient and not wanting to miss a great deal I called again and spoke with Arnold who told me current stock is sold but there are some that will be arriving on the 6th, They were told to put us late callers/buyers on a backorder list. Arnold said I had my dibs in on the first 1/3 or so of the lot coming so I should be good. Luke returned my call maybe 30 minutes later and said if my order was already in that I'm good to go. Haven't billed my card yet, they won't until they ship.

MattR 2009-02-24 04:44 PM

OKay, I just got impatient too so I called and spoke to Austin at 746. He says there is an order due in Friday 3/6, but the 255's will not be a part of the remaining shipments. So no more 255's :( He did however say that there are 245/40-17 available so I went with those. (That size was good enough for me last year  ) They will call me when they arive...still gave me the $116 pricing so I'm stoked...

Kevin M 2009-02-24 04:48 PM

255/40R17 sold out again, 245/40R17 still available. $501 picked up at the warehouse.

Kevin M 2009-02-24 04:51 PM

225/45R17 and 225/50R16 still available at crazy prices.

Vendors and distributors will usually be trying to push an outgoing product line at a big discount to clear out inventory and make room for the new product, especially when the product has a shelf life. They may have gotten a great price on the last re01rs, cut there own profit margins and in turn have had a huge quantity of tires sold in one day. No big markup but the money was made in the volume?
maybe:)

That sucks that the 255's are gone... $80/tire is a retarded low price for some big ass meats! 245/40's are what I've already got sitting in my garage... IIRC, they're as wide as most other brands 255's.

Pshaw, screw the RE-01R. Its all about the RE-11R.

sybir 2009-02-24 06:32 PM

I want 255/35/18's - but they were sold out on the web at 6:30 this morning - I'll call tomorrow and see if I can still get on a list.

cody 2009-02-25 11:05 AM

Killer deals, but I don't think I'll need tires for 12 months.

van 2009-02-27 04:10 PM

shipped today, a week early

A1337STI 2009-03-09 09:18 AM

I'll probably be regretting not buying some of the RE01Rs :| saw this special but just got some used autox tires so hopefully they last me a season.

szucchet 2009-03-10 07:46 AM

just got me a set of 245 40 17 from tire rack for 103 a piece:banana::banana::banana:, they said they still got 12 more in stock

Nice! picking mine up tomorrow. :D

JonnydaJibba 2009-03-11 12:24 PM

I pick mine up on Monday. Had to settle for 205 45s cuz I'm a slacker, but these are wide-ish anyway.

SpenceTi 2009-03-11 09:34 PM

We picked ours up today, 245/45/17's. They were out of 40's when we ordered them so we settled for 45's.

Hopefully won't regret it.

cody 2009-03-11 09:46 PM

What are you going to try to cram those monster truck tires on? :P Hopefully it's your STi. Larger OD means you'll need the torque, fender space, and stronger tranny.

Nah there going on the cherokee, I need "teh insane gripzors" when im wheeling.

Do you really think it will make that big of a difference? Maybe I should see if luke can get some 40's

MattR 2009-03-12 05:25 AM

I actually considered trying the 45's, because I'd love an extra 100 ft of second gear at auto-x...they should be fine.

ZER026D 2009-03-12 08:35 PM

I got two sets of 265/35/18's and I almost got 4 sets but then was like thats to much to spend right now.

cody 2009-03-13 07:24 AM

Keep them above 40*F.

??? I don't think any of the volatiles or compounds are going to freeze. Cool and even temps are probably good for them. Heat and cycling is probably worse.

Tightly bag them and store them vertically if not mounted! Not stacked on their side! Rotate occasionally to avoid any deformation.

cody 2009-03-13 08:05 AM

I don't know, but I had read somewhere at some point that they should be stored at above 40*F but perhaps somebody just misinterpreted it and that's just the threshold you should try to avoid when driving.

I did a quick search though and all I came up with was this:

Quote:

Unlike less highly tuned tires, Yokohama's care instructions specify that due to its compound characteristics, ADVAN Neova AD07 must be used and stored at temperatures above -10° Celsius (14° Fahrenheit) to maintain its performance and avoid tire damage.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...3730&t=1007220

That's for a different tire, but it does illustrate that at some point, low temperature can negatively effect the compound, presumably permanently.

Dean 2009-03-13 08:42 AM

40° and 14° are quite different. I doubt any enclosed garage in Reno ever sees 14°. Even at the lake, that would be unusual.

Cool dark, bagged and away from motors (ozone source) appears to be the standard. Stacked if mounted, vertical if unmounted(This is not really clear...). Basements are probably best if you have one as long as it is dry.

Luke at tire rack said to store them on there side stacked so I dont get flat spots.... Now I am confused..

Unmounted, there :) own weight will deform the sidewalls especially of the bottom tire. A single tire's weight is unlikely to hurt itself vertically, but may flat spot if mounted with the added weight of the wheel especially if they loose pressure.

Mounted, if you keep them aired up, it probably doesn't matter...

MattR 2009-03-20 08:02 AM

What a pointless discussion. Have you ever been inside a tire warehouse? Tire Rack, Michelin locally, and Discount in Sparks in the past? Well, have you ever noticed that the tires are ALWAYS stacked on their sides because it is the most efficient way to store them. So for months your tires sit on their sides in a warehouse, then you think a little time in your garage on their side is going to negatively affect them? it's a non-issue.

Dean 2009-03-20 09:05 AM

Optimal warehouse stacking has nothing to do with optimal storage for longevity/performance.

They don't bag them, so don't do that either.

sperry 2009-03-20 10:05 AM

All I know is that I make sure to park my car on its side or roof when I'm not driving it. I'd hate to flat spot my tires!

Its funny you should say that at the dealership if we dont move cars around they do flat spot. I have seen it many many times.
