headlight mod
tyson, would you like to get together any time soon to do the headlight mod? i decided that it will look cool on my car. hey see if ben still wants to do it too.
|
if everyone is going to be baking head lights i might just get in on it too 8) . Might be cheaper that way on extra silent :D
|
I wouldn't mind helping/watching again. Maybe I should redo mine so there is no condensation inside of them.....

I don't get off work till 8pm so kinda late. |

Hey now! I believe Khail gets the props for doing it TWICE before any of us. Then I did it, and have since replaced 'em with EDM projectors. :P
I think as far as SECCS, more people have done it than haven't! (That's just the kind of hard-core tuners we are! Unlike those pussy's in WA who only do JDM motor swaps...)! |

yeah, we put on stickers and change wheels like no one else....xtreme tunage! |

Now, GO TO VEGAS and leave me alone.... ;) |

And we're tree hugging Subaru owners with 300 HP here, so that works out fine. See ya |
so when is everyone up for this? hows mon night? at 8:30 or 9. we just need a place. all i have is a drive way.
|
i have to drive to sac Tuesday so that might be a little late for me to be up at 5:30am the next day :( My house might work thou if you bring tools

dont forget the silent 8) I dont want fog in my lights
|
ohh ya btw I dont have to go to Sac on Tuesday so tonight works for me.
Need extra sockets and wrenchs depending on how many can make it might be nice to also have a spot light :? Let me know and we can do this  |
I still do not have my car back yet, or tonight would have worked. I will still swing by and lend a hand, but can't do mine yet. :x
|
so we might just make it a two part in headlight mods  Still waiting to hear back from Drfunk but my house is avalable if you dont mind coming out to Spanish Springs :D

|
ok lets get any one who wants to do it for 8:30 pm at mikes house on mon the 8th. is this ok for every one? this should be enough time to get everyone together. as long as mike dosent mind a few people over. i can bring "space Balls" over too for some laughs in between cooking and painting oh yeah i still need directions
|
Sounds good to me. 8)
|
I will bring directions to Thursdays meet for anyone wanting to come over if you can't make the meet PM me and i will give you direction :D

the direction will be given out to everyone besides Art then :P
|
ok well with my garage finally clean i think we be ready for monday night.
We need to make a list of what we might need if not what has been purchased or recieved already: one idae of inportance might be does anyone have cotton gloves? |
Quote:
|
i have a have tube of black sealant and tools. we need flat black paint (barbeque paint or something like that i guess from what i heard), maybe more sealant..depending on how many people do this, and i dont know if we need anything else
|
the only reason i said cotton gloves is i hear it is easier to handle the light after cooking it . a big mitt might be to much :?
|
when we did it last time we just took the heat on the hands and were quick about it. No planning there. But good idea with the gloves.
I think a satin finish is what we used. It looked like an OEM plastic. I think a real flat black might kinda look too ghetto. I don't think it was a krylon or anyhting but it was not the cheapest either. Matt go out in your garage and see if you still have the can. :? And tomorrow right monday. Well unless I get out of work early which is doubtful I make around 8:40ish depending on how easy I find you house and all. |
I'll go look in the morning,
I think It is Rust Oleum Black outdoor barbeque/furniture paint.. |
I used rustoleum BBQ paint for mine, and I felt that it wasn't quite "black" enough... it seemed just a little too light. I don't think high-temp paint is really necessary... if I were to do it again, I'd just go with a good high quality semi-gloss black paint.

No problem Tyson, I dont think you will have any problem finding my house with that nice map I made :D Come-on by when you can

|

so after all we had one mess-up  and Sean was the victum.
btw Tyson heat can play a big factor on how things turn out  |
Son of a Motherless Goat!!! now does that mean He has to buy a new light?
I'd be pissed !!!! |
i was able to rig it together after sawing off the melted part. i put it back on ok and it looks all right except for the HUGE BOILED BUBBLING PLASTIC in the front. hehe but you learn from your mistakes.
|
HOLY Crap.
We did ours at like over 300 for only 8 mins, And never melted. But I thought you guys said you were doing 250? What did you turn it up to? |
lol 300 for 8 mins. Well I think Sean figured 400 at 5 mins would work just as well :( but yes we all learnd a little something that night thanks to Sean, it would need to be 400 for 30 sec
Hey sean at least you got it back together :? did you get those other lights ordered? |
Yeah, I did mine for like 5 minutes at 125 or something... all you need to do is soften it up enough to get a screw driver in there.... then pry it apart. When I did mine it felt barely warm to the touch!
BTW: If you guys need to open a headlight up again, I've gt a heat gun... just heat up the seal and leave the rest cold. I guess I should have been following this thread more... I would have offered the gun before this fiasco! :( |
