Hey Matt, remember how you were saying that CF wing...

... would look good on my car?

Well, I think, I just made myself the new recipient of the "riced-out wing" comments. Thank goodness we can still razz you about the bent rim.

I found a guy in Cupertino that's got a replica STi C/F wing he's selling for pretty cheap. He's boxing it up as I write this so he can ship it today so I'll have it for the Car Corral.

MattR 2004-01-06 11:59 AM

ARE YOU KIDDING??? I love that wing, I saw those same pictures on Subydude's site last night, I think it will look very cool, way to go man.

Fedex will have 4 boxes for me wed or thursday *fingers crossed*...MikeSTi will not be happy  hahaha!

Meh, just sell the T2's to Mike after the corral and order up a set of gunmetal SDRs.

Speaking of gunmetal SDRs, there was a WRB '02 WRX parked near the deli I had lunch at that had gunmetal SDRs on it!! But they looked like the older rota gunmetal/anthracite that's a bit lighter than the current almost-black "gunmetallic". They looked very sick.

sperry 2004-01-06 04:39 PM

Well, at least this wing generates some downforce, unlike the factory one on there that just causes drag.

The picture's not too bad, at least if you click on it and view the non-thumbnail image. (For some reason the thumbnails are coming out shitty on the new server... prolly a problem with ImageMagik)

Here's the data I got:

"Wing is functional"

 So that's gotta be better than my current "wing is a parachute" wing.

Which reminds me, my old wing is sitting on my workbench in the garage. I washed, polished, and waxed her last night (took 8 hours in my tiny-ass garage... I'm BEAT). I figured I better remove the current wing so the trunk under there gets cleaned up good for the new wing, which exposes more of the trunk. Word of warning: w/o the wing, the spring on the trunk is way too strong! I thought my trunk was going to leap through my rear window!

I know, I know. But they were a X-mas present, and my brother was crazy! and he wanted to get me something big that wasn't directly going to make my car go faster. he heard me talking about seats and how I loved the EVO and STi seats. My brother is teh cool.

AND yes there are 2!

and the brackets are suppose to be here Friday...help me install.
Sparco Torinos something to go with my shift Knob!

Pictures made possible by Tyson's new kick your ass Canon 5 Meg Camera!!

scott, teach me how to use photoshop upsharp mask and shit, picture looks ok with auto contrast and color but I need cooler looking stuff next time we are near yours or mine computers.

MattR 2004-01-08 05:32 AM

That's badass, man - and actually it probably will make the car go faster, cause usually good aftermarket seats like Sparcos are lighter than the OEM seats. You should weigh the OEM's and the new ones to compare them.

True, but the WRX seats are mostly foam just like the Sparcos... not like the Lazy Boy recliners in your Mustang. Where'll they'll really make him faster is by giving him a nice tight seat during AutoX.

Tyson, before next season pick up a Schroth harness and pads, so you can really cinch yourself into that seat. It helps you a lot to not have to "hang on" to the inside of the car while bombing around the course!

dknv 2004-01-08 09:17 AM

Tyson, those are great! Jealous!

Might the seats be lighter since there are no airbags in the sides either?

MikeSTI 2004-01-08 02:57 PM

those seats are so NICE thats going to be a nice interior mod all the way!!! 8)

tysonK 2004-01-08 06:09 PM

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty psyched about them.

Like Scott said they will make a nice AutoX addition to my car kepping me in that damn seat steering hard.

MattR 2004-01-11 09:09 PM

I love the way that thing looks, even better, it didn't cost much. I mean, none of them are functional for what we do, why spend $k on one?
