Turbo charging the RS 2.5 liter is bad I hear, can't hold boost as well as the STi 2.5s or something.

Kevin M 2006-03-31 10:11 AM

You can reliably boost a stock EJ251, but it's pretty limited as far as how much you can get out of it. But with just an STi/FXT/LGT block swap, the ceiling for the motor goes way up. And either way, it's all about engine management and knowing when to say when. ;)

Well, part of it is simply that it's a N/A motor, so the compression is too high to handle a lot of boost. Also, the RS's 2.5 is an open deck, so it's not as strong as the STI's semi-closed deck.

And there you have it.

There's no way I'd turbo this block. I'd much rather swap it and have factory turbo car reliability. I still need to drive that bitch to work too!

:concur:

Don't bitch about being the slowest. . . I've got an extra 500lbs on you and zero power mods.

MPREZIV 2006-03-31 11:49 AM

True, true, but I said I'm ALMOST ALWAYS the slowest car on the lot:D

If you made it to more meets... :P

And I don't wanna hear any bitching about "but i live in Dayton..."

A1337STI 2006-03-31 12:33 PM

Well no more complaints about no turbo for you then :P you don't have a turbo, becuase you don't want to boost on your current block ;)

[music]It's my gas budget, and I'll bitch if I wanna. . .[/music] :D

I missed last night's due to work. :( I needed tuesday off for oil change, harness install, and my wife's monthly "pregnant lady" checkup, and of course saturday for autox. Nothing left for SECCS. Stupid retail. Can I bitch about that?

MPREZIV 2006-03-31 12:47 PM

yes, you can, as I have had a job in retail as well, and the scheduling SUCKS!

Lets have a Go-Kart meet.

Dean 2006-04-23 05:00 PM

I'm game. I like the slick track... I think it is Kevin or maybe Scott that will gripe about the cars, but who cares.

Kevin M 2006-04-23 05:25 PM

The cars aren't nearly as bad as the dicks who were running the place last time we went.

Scott is always a safe bet for griping. I think he has trouble driving the karts with his knees behind his head.
