I'm in.

cody 2014-08-20 01:14 PM

SEECP doesn't sound quite the same. Why you moving to Portland, Scott?

I got a job making shoes. Sorta.

MattR 2014-08-20 07:10 PM

I'll do my best to be there... Sounds good.

Dean 2014-08-20 10:22 PM

I'll be there... Probably representing MECCS. You have any Miata parts you want to leave behind? :)

MattR 2014-08-21 12:00 PM

MECCS is the MINI club, you hack.

Nick Koan 2014-08-21 12:14 PM

Is it cool if I drive my Subaru to this Mini/Miata meet?

k-dogg39 2014-08-21 12:26 PM

Wish I could make it. Family coming into town. Hopefully catch you next time you are in town. Best of luck!

Hells Yeah!

ScottyS 2014-08-21 01:18 PM

Whoa, short notice indeed. Fortunately, I can make it! Need to leave a little early though, since I'm on the bike today. Gotta ride home and get my Subie to take to the Mini meet.

Glad you could make the time though, Scott.

MattR 2014-08-21 03:50 PM

I will be there pretty early I just finished up at an appointment on this side of town so I'll be there if anyone wants to come by sooner

sperry 2014-08-21 05:11 PM

Lisa and I are just about to head over. Should be there a little early too, pending a lack of toddler tantrums.

Bob Danger 2014-08-21 05:30 PM

Well damn, I wish I had checked the forum earlier in the day.

MPREZIV 2014-08-21 07:31 PM

Yeah... sadface. Didn't see this until now...

sperry 2014-08-21 08:23 PM

Crap, sorry guys! I should have sent out some text messages. This was super unplanned and last minute, I'm kinda surprised anyone showed up.

Bob Danger 2014-08-22 11:34 AM

When are you out for good? There's a going away gift for you in the Davis household.

They're packing us right now, finishing up tomorrow. Truck's loaded on Sunday. We should be leaving on Sunday as soon as the truck departs.

Shit is hectic as fuck right about now.

van 2014-08-22 02:16 PM

Moving sucks. Moving to another state super sucks.
Good Luck Scott!

Thanks.

Like I said, shit's hectic... the trailer hitch for Lisa's RDX got delayed during shipping. Ordered it Amazon Prime to be here on Wednesday (back when we were expecting to leave next Wed instead of this Sun). Delay meant it showed up today... with no mounting hardware. They didn't even box it, just taped the back of bolts to the bar, and sure enough it fell off.

Lisa lost it and called Amazon. After her tirade, they refunded it hitch to us fully, gave us an extra month of Prime for free for the delay, and we don't have to ship it back. They told her "we'll give you a one time exemption on returning the item" and she was like "hell no you're not giving us a 'one-time exemption', if you screw me again like this I expect you to make it right then too"... and they agreed.

So anyway, I dug through my giant bin of Subaru bolts and found 4 high-grade M12 bolts that matched the threading in the RDX and installed the hitch. I had to use mixed metals for the washers, lock-washers, and bolts, but I think everything is good to go. At least I was able to torque things down to the required 114 ft-lbs.

Towing a trailer in what's essentially a lifted Honda Accord is a weird feeling... I'm used to towing 4000 lbs behind my truck. A tow rating of only 1500 lbs is a little sketchy... but I hear it's to keep the gearbox from grenading, not because the car can't control/stop the weight of a trailer.

ScottyS 2014-09-02 04:51 PM

So.....I'd like to hear from Cory and Matt and see which times/locations would work for them the best. We don't have to do all meets at the same place, we could alternate etc. Sure would be nice to get some of the old guard back in the mix.

Bob Danger 2014-09-04 03:25 PM

Any plans for the evening? Anyone in?

Dean 2014-09-04 04:53 PM

Sorry, not tonight. Bug Cory. See if he has any interest in us invading his restaurant(s)?

We are also discussing changing weeks so Matt can attend...

MattR 2014-09-04 08:57 PM

Yeah first week of the month never works... Is the last thursday of the month easy to remember? Cory's rest. Sounds good if he's okay with that...
