What if Subaru didn't exist?

If Subaru didn't exist, what car would you drive, and why?

My answer - I would say that the BMW M3, G35x, or 09 Audi S4. Since it has been a long time since I bought my car, I would have to do a crap-load if research before I made my final decision. I like the aforementioned cars because they look pretty/what I have heard.

Unimog.

100_Percent_Juice 2008-11-03 10:37 AM

mazdaspeed3 for sure.

Kevin M 2008-11-03 11:10 AM

At this point, no idea. At the time I bought my RS, it would have ended up being a Celica GTS.

Late 60's Bronco with a turbocharged 5.0 FI engine. Early 70's 240Z with turbocharged 5.0 FI engine. 1971 Corvette with original 454 sitting in my garage awaiting restoration.

Nice...

BOO 2008-11-03 03:24 PM

I'd go back to an Audi as well.

Nick Koan 2008-11-03 04:48 PM

Probably a Toyota Tacoma.

MattR 2008-11-03 05:08 PM

A toyota FJ. and an Evo MR.

sperry 2008-11-03 05:45 PM

If Subaru didn't exist, either I'd have a pile of money in the bank, or a 10 second Thunderbird.

Kevin M 2008-11-03 06:29 PM

Heck, you could have both. 10 second Mustangs aren't that hard to build, right?

QFT. And probably a Cressida with S13 suspension, dumped on the ground. And a Lincoln Continental, and probably a half-dozen other random piles that looked fun "at the time".

Me with a big garage/storage space is going to be dangerous, given my past proclivities towards acquiring vehicles. I've owned the same car twice and driven it once in that time, lol. 3 Legacy Turbos and an FC RX7 mean I'm a glutton for punishment.

WRX06TR 2008-11-03 07:00 PM

An Evo 9 me thinks...

Seven years ago I had a 69' Bronco with a 351 Cleveland sitting on 35" BFG's, 3" Rancho lift plus 1" body. The 5-8 MPG's and every weekend fix-it's got old.....that was when gas was under $2 also.
I would love to have it back as a "fun" car, and not a DD.
It was loud, nasty, smelled like antifreeze, gas, oil and any other fluid that could possibly leak, or get blown out the exhaust, but I loved it.

Dean 2008-11-03 07:13 PM

Probably an Audi and a Pickup... Oh wait, I have those. ;)

A monster motor mn12 T-Bird would certainly be a lot cheaper than my WRX ended up being, but actually getting it into the 10's would probably have been serious money... that car weighs 2 tons.

Dewey 2008-11-03 08:19 PM

What is your WRX running? (when it is running)

1/4 mile? Who knows, I have no interest in breaking my car to go straight for 11 to 14 seconds.

tysonK 2008-11-03 10:06 PM

Integra

god that would suck.

Bob Danger 2008-11-03 10:37 PM

I'd still be driving a corolla.

Seriously. I sold a light metalicy blue 89 Integra to buy my WRX. I'd proably still be driving it today. At least you're the right size for that car. I never looked more like a fat white American than I did getting out of that thing.

Funny thing is, back in '01(When the WRX was starting to come over/being introduced)I used to own/drive a TRD Tacoma, an(mkiv) Supra and a Celica.. so I know what you mean... But I do kinda miss my Audi.

I agree, great car for the money.

M3n2c3 2008-11-04 06:01 PM

I'd still have a beat-up Eagle Vision TSi.
