At least my neighbor was honest about it...

I had my neighbor knocking on my door this morning, to report an accident.

Ughh, that sucks man. At least it looks like it's isolated to one panel.. fenders are usually easy to replace.

Nick Koan 2006-06-09 08:38 AM

There is a small dent on the door panel as well, and the crease on the door is not as much of a crease as it should be.

No other damage that I can see, thankfully and looks like all body damage.

MattR 2006-06-09 08:44 AM

Was it the guy across the street with the big F-U truck? What a douche.

No, though his daughter slammed into my car earlier this week after her first bike ride w/o training wheels. A minor scratch I buffed out by hand and a dent that'll need to get pulled (and they are going to cover that).

The guy that hit me today was next door to him, on the corner.

Man, its been a bad week for my car being parked on the street.

JonnydaJibba 2006-06-09 08:50 AM

Damn! He just back into it or what?

sybir 2006-06-09 08:51 AM

Man, that sucks. At least he owned up, I've had my car demolished by so many assholes that never left notes or followed up :(

Dean 2006-06-09 09:00 AM

That's not going to buff out... Bummer... Call Concourse... At least with no real rain/snow recently, the body shops should be pretty quiet.

Except the kid that hit the car on her bike was able to miss my car that *was* on the street and ride up our driveway into yours.

It's not safe to park anywhere except in a bunker under 30 of concrete w/ dual 10,000 lb blast doors protecting the entry apparently.

Actually, our other roommate Matt got backed into by some lady in a parking lot (I guess laying on the horn and having your friend outside the car waving and yelling "STOP!" is the international symbol for "just go ahead and drive into that black BMW behind you").

Anyway, the lady's insurance recommended Steve's Collision Center (I hadn't heard of it either). Not only did they give Matt a *guarenteed* completion date, they got the work done in only 2.5 days, and it looks gorgeous. They did a terrific job. Hopefully our neighbor's insurance company has that shop on their preferred list so Nick can take it there.

Dean 2006-06-09 09:26 AM

Yeah, but then you open the door to far to fast to furiously into the bunker wall, and own yourself...

Nick Koan 2006-06-09 09:27 AM

Yeah, the work that Steve's Collision did was pretty good.

Matt has now had pretty much his whole car repainted, and their portion was the panel with the least orange peel, and it easily looks the best.

MPREZIV 2006-06-09 09:28 AM

that sucks balls Nick...

Nick Koan 2006-06-09 09:28 AM

oh, and I can't open my drivers side door more then about 2 inches :( I have a backpack jammed in there to illustrate.

Having roommates that own multiple cars FTW! (though I'm hoping to still get a rental)

Actually, if I didn't have 3 cars, you would have been parked either in the garage or the driveway, and this would never have happened. So, you're welcome to drive the SVX until the body shop is done w/ your car.

Nah, that doesn't bother me too much. Shit happens, and you having multiple cars didn't cause this. I'm just glad there was a spare vehicle I could use to still get to work and stuff.

tysonK 2006-06-09 09:55 AM

dang, that blows. It's makes your car look instantly ghetto with that big ass push in.

Hopefully it's back better than ever in a week or so.

Nick Koan 2006-06-09 12:21 PM

Just called the insurance company, and aparently this will be an interstate claim (no office in Nevada?) and they all take half-day's on Friday. My claim didn't get assigned in time, so I shouldn't expect a call before Monday. Woopie.

Whaaa? According to the Nevada DMV, you have to have insurance from a Nevada based carrier within 60 days of moving to Nevada. Now I *know* our neighbors have been in the state for more than 60 days.

Also, sounds like those adjusters are slacker ass slackers.

Nick Koan 2006-06-09 12:27 PM

Well, the website for the company says they are registered in Nevada to insure cars, but the customer service person I talked to said that it was 'an interstate claim.' Maybe they only have an office in Vegas or something, and the NorCal adjuster is closer. I should have asked more, but I didn't.

bruspeed 2006-06-09 03:39 PM

Snap! Sorry dude! Hopefully you don't have the same problems Scott had with the SVX and you get your baby fixed like new, and soon.

Weak. Hopefully it all works out for you. I know there are a few companies in Nevada licensed to sell insurance, but they don't even open offices here.

dknv 2006-06-09 04:25 PM

Sorry to see that Nick.
I thought insurance companies cannot 'tell you' where to take your car to get it fixed, I thought they had to honor your request. Art?

Good thing your neighbor stepped up.

Kevin M 2006-06-09 04:50 PM

That's true, but they'll give you a bunch of crap about how they can't "guarantee" the work if they don't do a good job. I'm trying to find time to get an estimate on my sand damage claim from Easter weekend, and Allstate keeps trying to get me to just drop off my car and leave it to be repaired at their shops.
