Valve cover gasket question.

I am in the process of replacing the gaskets on my valve covers and I was wondering where I'm supposed to put the silicone? I watched a youtube video of a guy only putting it on the round side of the D shaped plugs, but then I've read several people posting about putting it all over the outside gasket. The only thing I know for certain is that I don't want to do the job a second time. :|

The whole front up to about and inch from the middle holes for the covers bolts then start and inch after the middle holes go around the back to cover the half moon gasket and alittle but over them. Then do the Same to other side

Kinda hard to explain

Wouldn't I create a leak by only doing a partial silicone?

Joel, if you want to stop by the shop we can print you out the service manual pages showing where the silicon goes.

I always forget that's there.

I knew it was there. It's just that it had been so long since I've pressed the new thread button.

Hey thanks. I didn't mean to come off ungrateful for your response.
