Question about online selling and paypal

I don't really have any experience selling stuff online. What's common practice regarding the timing of receiving payment and shipping the items being sold? My first thought is to ship once the payment arrives through paypal.

(This is regarding my coilover sale, BTW)

Usually the buyer pays within a day or two at the most (if they're a good buyer). Don't ship until you get a confirmed payment. Paypal will email you when they've confirmed it. As long as you ship within a day or so of getting the payment, people will consider you a "good seller".

Definitely get payment first. I've bought and sold tons of things through eBay, Nasioc, and car audio forums and the buyer always pays first. Once you receive payment ship your package out and get a tracking number for the buyer as soon as possible. It feels a lot safer when I can actually see that my package is on the way. When I'm the seller I always try to keep the buyer updated with what's going on if there's a shipping delay for some reason.

Cool, thanks guys :)

Yup, once you get the paypal, you ship it out. Be sure to insure the package for replacement cost, not what you got for it.

And if you're insuring it for a certain cost threshold, the shipper may require signature at delivery. It helps the buyer to know if this is the case, as it's happened to me that the item gets delivered, no one home to sign (on a Friday), and you're screwed until Monday.

Good call. And sometimes it's cheaper to ship to a business address anyway, so getting it sent to their work is a good thing sometimes.

The question may be moot at this point. Looks like I'll be selling them locally. :D
