What is the biggest size wheel and tire you can mount balance? I ask because I have a lot of friends with lifted trucks.

KSpeed Auto 2010-06-25 09:56 AM

We can do wheels up to 22", *possibly* 24", but I'm not 100% sure on the 24 until I get a chance to throw one up there and check it. Width is pretty unlimited, and tire diameter shouldn't be a problem up to about 40" or so!

Bump for a crosspost! (shhh, don't tell the mods!)

Matt, any chance you can get TireRack to deliver to your shop for those of us that want to have you mount/balance tires but don't have time to drive out to Patrick?

Or, how much more would you charge if I ordered the tires through you and have Kevin run out there to pick them up?

100_Percent_Juice 2010-10-08 10:03 AM

Scott that's pretty messed up. You know tire rack will shoot kevin on sight.

MattR 2010-10-08 01:30 PM

I had my Tire rack shipment shipped straight there..I set it up with Kevin...I don't think they have any issues with that.

Yeah, it just didn't help me today when I need tires ASAP. I ended up making the run over to TireRack myself, and had Cory mount 'em up on short notice.

235/55/17 is a big goddamn tire! Even on a lifted Outback.

Thanks Cory!

C'est "voilà", pas "wala". C'est français.

I made up for it being 4 months later by doing it in French.

That's what she said.

What kind of gains could I expect to see if I got my 2.5i tuned by you guys?

Kevin M 2010-10-27 04:19 PM

With no other mods, maybe 10-15 hp peak and a few extra ft.-lbs. over most of the powerband. Spend a lot of time reading williaty's posts on Nasioc in the NA tuning forum. And ignore basically everyone else except Matt Monson. Cliff notes version is that you shouldn't do anything but tuning, a TWE header and cams, unless you also do pistons. Also plan to use 91 octane gas if you want to get tuned.

Thanks for the review Juice! Every little bit helps... if there's any truth to the adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity. :p

At least I'm a team player.

How much would it cost to drop a used OEM engine into a 2005 Legacy 2.5i?

7 hours = $525. This assumes the ingoing engine is ready to drop in without any major transfer of parts. It may take a little less time than that, and if so you would be charged actual time.

Matt

100_Percent_Juice 2011-05-18 08:29 PM

Why does that sound so stinking cheap!

Kevin M 2011-05-19 08:02 AM

Last time I was there, Airport Auto still had an engine from a 2005 RS. Should be the same as the Legacy. It's DBW without AVLS.

Because we are fast, efficient, and our shop rate is relatively low. For example: Cory can pull a SOHC engine, replace the head gaskets, timing kit, and water pump, and then reinstall it all in about 9 hours usually... by himself.

Matt

I think my parents are going to use their regular mechanic since the car is already there. If they change their mind I will drop you guys a line. That is super cheap FYI.

WRXlerate 2011-09-08 09:56 AM

Do you guys have Cobb street tuner software to tune APs? Have you set anything up with CPR to do any dyno tunes since they have an awd dyno? Do you know approximately how much would I be looking at for a dyno tune, engine is an 07 sti with stage 2 plus header, uppipe, tmic upgrade and perrin turbo inlet?
thanks

Dumb question, your shop has a press and can change suspension bushings, wheel bearings, and other "press" fun things right ?

Yes, we have a 20ton press and regularly press stuff in/out.
