Anybody using non Charter/AT&T for Primary Internet?
Very Small Client has no DSL or Cable option but doesn't need much bandwidth really. 1MB would even be fine. 2G/mo.
Currently suffering through T-Mobile USB dongle. Ideally, would have wireless AP/router option either by default or user supplied. Looked at assorted Cel providers. AT&T/Verizon appear to be $50+ Sprint/Virgin @35 All the cell Hot spots options are fairly limited in WIFI range, and >30' would be preferable, but would appreciate feedback from anybody using them. especially in conjunction with a Wifi Printer. Anybody? |
Thor and Trisca used http://hdiss.net/ when they lived in Fernley. There's also Clearwire and a bunch of others that come up when you Google Reno Wireless Internet.

I know my Verizon rep told me about a new service they are doing called "Back Up Routing". It uses their 4g & 3g network for internet services and would be a back up to our primary ISPs. It would cost us $10 per month plus the cost of a Cradle Point Router (about $200 to $300). If they could inquire about that type of service with T-Mobile or see if they can get it from Verizon.
Otherwise Cody listed Clearwire, my friend had it and it wasn't too bad. Earthlink & Wild Blue are other options as well, but they normally are slower than using a Cell Phone Carrier Internet. |
