SCCA All Club Training Day(Fire School) Sat. @ Infineon

Anybody going?

Learn timing and scoring, flagging and communications, registration...

Oh, did I mention getting to put out fires with fire extinguishers. Yep, you get to do it.

Details:

Registration for all attendees will start at 8AM in the downstairs Media Center at Infineon Raceway (i.e., the old Drivers Lounge at Sears Point). We will not be rotating from one session to another as in previous years, but expect most people will be concentrating with one crew. New attendees have the option of choosing one crew or may quietly move from group to group, but will not have new training directed their way.

Flagging and Communications along with Emergency will start their training at 9AM in the Drivers Lounge.

Pit Fire will have their first burn starting around 9AM on the hill. Worker Trans will provide transportation from the Media Center to the burn area about every 30 minutes.

Registration will start their training session in a room TBD at 10AM.

The seminar is scheduled to conclude by 2:00pm but I would expect it will run over until 3:00pm. Lunch is provided - no charge for seminar attendees.

If you wish to drive down Fri and need a motel in the vicinity, the Inn Marin is an SCCA sponsor and offers the best rates for a first rate motel. The reservations phone number is 800 652-6565. An alternative is the Motel 6 on Fairgrounds Dr. in Vallejo.

Dave is checking on applications for regional Officials license and log so you can track events worked. You will receive one days credit toward your license for attending the seminar. You must be an SCCA member to obtain a Race Officials license, however, there is no charge for the license. It does entitle you to additional insurance so is worth applying for.

It's always in there.... but I'm not sure why it's always in there...

I'm there.

The last email from Dave about this, was that we didn't need to be there at 8, but by 9.

I had suggested to Dave & Carol possibly stopping for an early dinner somewhere, heading out of Sears Point on the way home (or wherever).

Stuff starts up about 9:00 so not showing up til 9:00 seams a little tardy IMHO.

I think 2:00 or so is a bit early for dinner, and it sounds like the Meet in Sac. is on many calendars. Speaking of which, do we have a thread on that somewhere, or details?

Your first post includes Dave's note that we can expect it'll run over until 3pm. However, I forgot they are providing lunch, therefore, even 4pm may be too early to eat. so just nevermind my idea.

Scott, Did they agree on a new SAC meet location? or is it still at PizzaPucks? We might want to clarify that before Saturday.

Good point. Tho I don't care where we meet as long as we end up in some go-karts.

Which reminds me: Austin, you need to come to this F&C Day and then get out on the kart track w/ us so I can spin you! :P

Kevin M 2004-02-18 11:23 AM

I'm not sure if we're debuting the new meet location this week or not. Fortunately, it's only a few blocks past the "old" meet location. I think we are going to start at the usual place this week, and then go to the new one. Not sure yet, but it will be posted soon.

I'm too lazy to sift thru nabisco, is karting going to be at the indoor kart track?

Nabisco is the devil! And no, our kart place is outdoors. But the benefit to that is smaller crowds/ less waiting when it's cold. They close it for rain, unfortunately. :(

Dude I'd be on it, but I'm going to be a little busy down in San Luis Obispo this Friday-Saturday.

I'm down for sprinkles though! wet = good, less traction makes them feel faster

Werd. Except for the non-club n00bs out there don't how how to drive in the wet. At least us i-Club goons figured out how much fun those karts are in the rain and managed to keep them pointed more-or-less :twisted:in the right direction while driving- the other people couldn't finish a lap without spinning all on their own.

Okay, I talked to my sister. Matt, Tyson, we got a place to crash Friday night, except my sis is getting over a cold, so if she's still not feeling well, we may have to scrap the Friday night trip... unless of course we can con some the the Sac guys into putting us up. (Actually, I think they all have cats at their places, which I don't want to deal w/)

cool, I guess we'll have to play it by ear. I guess we can leave early Saturday morning, I'm okay either way. I put my snow tyres back on tonight, so no worries.

The plan for now is to crash at her place. She said she'd let me know if she's not feeling good enough. She even said she might just crash at her boyfriend's place so we could take over her apartment..

Wow that nice of her!

cool sister.

sperry 2004-02-19 09:04 PM

Okay, so what time are we leaving? Sunlight is our friend over the pass!

Tyosn, you need to have a last minute "doctor's appointment" or something. ;)

Kostamojen 2004-02-19 09:27 PM

Hey guys, I know this is kinda odd for me to ask... Kevin just told me that the SECCS crowd was going to head down here for this event, and I was wondering... Is there any chance any of you can pick up one of those cheap SA2000 helmets sold at that motorcycle shop up in Reno for me? Im not sure if ill make it up to Reno before the big buttonwillow track day, so I thought I would ask...

If anyone sees this in time and is willing, give me a call @ 916-390-3650 anytime tommorow. I can have Kevin pick up the helmet, or even meet up with you guys somewhere.

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-02-19 10:11 PM

The phrase, "If you have a $10 head wear a $10 helmet" comes to mind.
