I like that wing.. That's what the STI should have, or something like it. And it is a coupe... Why doesn't Subaru make a damn coupe, or sports car!!! I want an SVX with an STI motor/trany!!!

Complete STi drivetrain: $20,000 Custom bodywork to get everything to fit: $10,000 Installation/Misc costs: $10,000 Go for it. |
I don't want to build it, Subaru should! It shouldn't be that hard. resurect the chasis, the motor and trany are probably a pretty easy fit, and throw some cool new sheet metal on it... Oh, and maybe get rid of the cool but funky window. It would be an RX-8 Killer... Lamborghini style doors would be cool too.

Joe from Alfa-Subaru in Sacramento was talking about putting a 6spd in his SVX. That was about 6 months ago, and it sounded like he had all the parts, just had to find time whilst reparing other peoples cars to do it.
Also, he didn't want to throw an STi block in there. Because 3.3L H6 > 2.5L Turbo H4. He said he was *thinking* about throwing a turbo on, but a NA car with ~240hp was enough for him :D He was also going to throw a 5spd into another SVX he had lying around his shop. I think he quoted me $7k for it after the swap was done. Wish I had the money for that. |
what I really don't like about the SVX is that it's so heavy. I guess that's just 'cause of the big motor... also, it shares hardly anything with the Impreza... you have to swap a ton of parts with an impreza before you can start tapping into the impreza's aftermarket. Which you need to do since there's hardly anything for the SVX out there.
I'd really like to see an SVX with the stock 3.3L motor, twin turbo'd, coilovers, and everything from the tranny to the wheels off an STi (diffs, brakes, axles, etc). Figure 450 to 500hp... but still only running 13's 'cause the car weighs lile 4000 lbs. :( |

There are a few guys on Crow-barns forum site that have the manual swaps in their SVX's. You can also check out:

I bet Nate at S-Squared could do it fairly inexpensively (for a great job I might add). I'm sure he could give you a rough quote if you asked in the S-Squared forum here on SECCS or on their website www.ss-ms.com (or nate@ss-ms.com) |
I have the guys' info, and I hear good things about his work. But, I also know Nate. Send him there. Doing the SVX conversion is not much different than doing the Legacy turbo conversion Nate did on his own car, or the Legacy 4EAT-5MT he's about to do on Sybir's car.
|
Word, I trust Nate with my car no matter what.
Well, I might ask questions if he wanted to use it for bank jobs, but he;d make it fast for that, so........ hehe Seriously, though, you'd be dropping an Impreza/Legacy/Forester 5spd intot he SVX, same bellhousings, etc, so it's not that different than any other car in the Subaru lineup. To use Nate's words, "Subarus are like Legos" :) |
