ARGH!! Help me!!

I've been at work 8 hours now, and I've only got 2 more left!

I'm friggen losing my mind from all this overtime. And it's not like I'm working overtime on a hard project or something that's attention grabbing... I'm just working on monkey testing a new machine.

Ugh, someone post something interesting.

Kevin M 2004-02-25 05:01 PM

ArthurS 2004-02-25 05:12 PM

Been here for 10 hours now.

Okay Scott. Diagnose (sp?) my new car problem:

Without Boost Controller on the car.

1st gear: Slowly lose boost.

2nd through 4th gear, w/o BC on, never creeps above 10 psi. (Normally peaks at 15 and then levels out about 12).

Not to mention the shifting is increasingly getting rough (Could easily be time for a tranny service).

So, even though I haven't had the BC on the car for awhile, could I have a exhaust leak? Turbo problems? Cat in the uppipe damaged?

Car goes to Carson Subaru tomorrow to find out for sure. But I would rather not go out there if I don't have to.

Sounds like there might be something hooked up wrong to the wastegate. When you pulled off the MBC and reinstalled the stock Y hoses, did you make sure to put the hose with the restrictor in it on the turbo outlet?

Rough shifting sounds like it's time for new ATF.

ArthurS 2004-02-25 06:49 PM

Hmmm......Maybe i didn't. I'll double check that.

Rolling in on 30k. I will wait for the ATF till then.

MattR 2004-02-25 06:54 PM

yeah, make sure the hose Scott mentioned is in the right direction, there is a certain flow it must follow. My car did the EXACT same thing when i hooked it up backwards once (the wagon).

More specifically, there at little brass nub restristor thingy in one of the hoses that we took off to install the MBC. You can find it by squeezing the hose, it sould be a little lump in the middle of it. That hose connects to the turbo outled (the part closest to the intercooler). The other hose connects to the wastegate actuator, and the 3rd hose should still be connected to the factory boost controller.

BTW! Boo-f*n-hoo...10 hours???

actaully YES mine does.

feel my pain also.

Sorry to continuen to highjack your thread, but:

The part that reconnected to the wastegate actuator has a 90 deg bend in the hose (the oem part). The hose that runs to the turbo is straight.

I felt for a brass fitting in the Vishnu BC and no luck. Same as with the factory hoses. Maybe thats why? Did I lose that fitting?

The brass fitting is inside the stock hose... you can see it, hell I dunno if it's really even brass.

We can check it at the meet tomorrow.

MattR 2004-02-25 11:16 PM

There's a meet tommorrow? Where? When?

j/k

Maybe if the snow cooperates, we can go to the SECCS sno*drift course around the corner. (I'm not leading this time, fucking snow donkeys)
