are we having a new meet location this week?

i dont know if we wanna continue at our current location..is this week up for change?

Dean 2004-05-03 07:27 PM

As a club, I think a vote is in order, but before we can have a vote, someone would need to proposes an alternative to vote on.

I also think that it is a little short notice to make a change. There are at least some people who do not check the board daily, or that we talked to given spotted cards that might not know of the change.

That said, I strongly believe we should go back to Bully's on principle.

Let me start by saying, though I have not known Ryan long, I do not believe he has done anything wrong..

It is likely that as our club grows thought that somebody might join us who has. As a club we have done nothing wrong. We should not change our plans due to a single incident outside of our control.

A club is responsible to it's members, not responsible for them, or their individual actions.

If as a group, we do something bad, then yes, it is a blemish on the club, but if a club member ever does something to get in trouble outside of a club activity, then that is on them, not the club.

Given that we are promoting things such as Autocross to get people off the streets, we will likely have members with some history, if we don't already. That is a good thing, not a bad thing if our objective is for us to have a positive impact. With that, comes the reality that we may be witness to some unpleasantness.

Bully's has shown a willingness to support us, I think we should continue to support them.

OK, I'll get down off my soap box now.

Although I was not there to see the drama, I agree with Dean.

What do the guys think that were there?

MikeSTI 2004-05-03 08:09 PM

I just like to meet :D I do hope however we havent picked a to high traffic spot that draws possiblly some unwanted attention :?

MattR 2004-05-03 08:13 PM

I'm in support of Bully's...I don't think we'll have any trouble. However, we could always hit up Sparky's Mt Rose again, that place was pretty quiet. Someone suggest another place. Then, let's vote.

That may be the case, and perhaps a change is in order, but somebody has to take the initiative and find an alternative.

how bad is the Bully's at N. McCarran & Pyramid

Could always try to go back to Sparky's or Bully's in Galena if all else fails.

But it was cool that the manager of the Meadowood Bully's has been sticking up for everyone. I wish we could continue to go there without hassel.

I'd like to agree with you there Art, but the Mall Bully's location was always a little too "high profile" with all the high schoolers in and out of there.

I would guess that security has a genuine problem with people loitering in that lot causing trouble. And while we're not causing problems directly, I'll bet security sees us as an issue as far as them being able to tell the high schoolers they need to leave whilst we're allowed to hang out.

So, even if Bully's squares away with security, I don't see security ever being helpful or accepting of our meets because it makes their job harder. I would expect security and Bully's to pretend to get along, meanwhile we'll be harrassed by the cops and the like because deep down inside, security doesn't want us there. :x

ArthurS 2004-05-04 09:16 AM

so any new ideas? Something with ample parking and good food?

Dean 2004-05-04 09:57 AM

Is anybody interested in a recon mission tonight to find a new location? Even if we don't change this week, we could scout options, check menus, and make sure Thursday isn't Kareoke night!

Hop into a couple cars, and go looking.

Criteria:

Private Parking lot for the establishment, or it ad a number of other shops.(like 4th turn was)

Decent food at decent prices.

TVs with DVD or VHS support & Speed Channel.

Manager/owner who wants us there every thrurs and possibly willing to cut us a deal on beer and sodas maybe?

Did I miss anything?

ArthurS 2004-05-04 09:59 AM

What time were you thinking of doing your hunt Dean?

You missed another thing: We need a waitress that can hook us up with Free soda's like 4th Turn. But hopefully she won't get arrested.

I might be in... depends on a possible sushi mission tonight.

Speaking of 4th Turn, has anyone been by there recently? I wonder if they'll ever re-open.

Depends on who is going, and when they can get off. I'd guess around 6:30 or 7:00ish.

Dean 2004-05-04 12:52 PM

I did a little recon at lunch by driving down Kietzke, and back up Virgina. Didn't go into any place, and overall, not much to choose from...

4th turn is still empty.

Coach's Bar & grill migh be an option at Mt. Rose & Virginia.

I also thought of the place behind the Kart track at the Hilton, but can't remember it's name

I assume another criteria is allowing under age 21 people in.

While I wasn't impressed with the food the one night we went there, is Sparky's near Matt an option?

So who all is in tonight for some investigation?

There are better Sparky's than the one by Matts, both the Galena and S. McCarran Sparky's have better parking lots and more room inside.

The one by Matt's just had the parking semi secluded since it faces away from the road. Are the other's similar?

Which one? I'll agree the McCarran one gets pretty busy... but the Galena one seemed pretty empty the one time we went there.

MattR 2004-05-04 01:18 PM

McCarran and Longley is uber-busy, but Galena was a ghost town.

Dean, that place near the Hilton is a good thought, It is the only bar in the hole town I haven't been to...perhaps it's worth checking out. It doesn;t appear to be busy ever...hopefully it's not scary inside.

As I recall, it even has a racing theme of some sort in it's name, and a chekker flag in it's logo...

Indeed. that'll likely be the only checkered flag you see this year!

Dean 2004-05-04 02:37 PM

OK, I was going to continue the bantering, but all I really want to know is who is going tonight, and when?

So far, all I have is a a probably from Art, and a Maybe from Scott, and my proposed time of 6:30-7:00ish.

Matt, Tyson, Mike, anybody else?

We could start at the Hilton and run some slick track while waiting for everyone to show up....

Wonder if they would sell us a season Kart pass for $100
