Teh Scott went to T0w3r!!?!

Yep, I went to Tower today at lunch on a mini shopping spree. I really wanted the Cowboy Beebop TV series on DVD, but they don't have it, and the last time they ordered it, none of the episodes ever came. :x

So, instead I picked up season 1 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and season 1 of Samauri Jack, as well as a Paul Van Dyke CD and a Paul Oakenfold CD.

:) YeeaAAAAHhhhh!!

That's Master Shake, Meatwad, and Frylock.

I really don't know how to describe the show, but according to Amazon.com:

Quote:

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force are a squabbling trio of fast-food items (milkshake, fries, and a ball of hamburger meat) that have joined together to fight a host of monsters, aliens, and mad scientists in their native New Jersey. Fans of traditional cartoons may find the surreal plotlines and low-fi animation unmanageable, but viewers who enjoy other Adult Swim programming like Space Ghost Coast to Coast (series creators Chris Willis and Matt Maiellaro are veterans from that show) will find the Force's adventures side-splitting.
It may be the single funniest cartoon evAr.

Austin - You need to watch Adult swim for some of the greatest cartoons ever. Aqua Teen, Sealab 2021, Family Guy, Futurama, and much more.

Damn... too late for this working slob. I'm tired the morning after staying up to watch The Shield till 11pm. I'll have to snag that via VCR programming if at all.

I have the DVDs of Cowboy Bebop and I also have the movie, if you haven't seen it. You can borrow them if you want. I bought them online somewhere for fairly cheap, but I don't know where.

I have the movie already... I really want the whole TV series, and I'd liket o buy it just for the whole "collector" type deal, although, if I can't find it soon, I'll take you up on the offer, so I can at least see the few episodes that I've missed.

I have the Cowboy Bebop "Perfect Sessions" box set, the Cowboy Bebop movie, the limited edition box set soundtracks whick include live performances by the Seatbelts, and various other soundtracks from the series. All-in-all, about $100 for everything.

Gorio 2004-05-20 09:06 AM

Is that gray market stuff? Seems real cheap!

Gorio 2004-05-20 09:27 AM

I think they're copies of the original releases.
They probably got it from Hong Kong.

Yeah, I did a little research. Looks like the original Bandai box set was 6 DVDs and a soundtrack CD. This release is a copy crammed on 3 DVDs, and while it's good and affordable (the original Bandai box sets were numbered limited editions, so they go for $200 to $300 now) people say the quality sufferes. :(

Gorio 2004-05-20 10:19 AM

Yeah, the people who bought the set said in the
reviews section that there were some pixel problems.
I guess that's expected from a $20 set.

Ebay. As for the 3 disc boxed set(which I have) it's just as good as the rest. No real pixalation that I can see. The packaging seems sterdy and well made. Haven't really gone into the extras on the discs because most of it is Japanese. So if your just looking to watch the episodes, this is the best deal.
Also, if you like Bebop's soundtracks, you might be interested in FLCL. Its changing contemporary animation mixed with its alternative "funk" sounds make it an interesting series.

I'm actually thinking I'll just get the individual session CDs, since those are the ones released by Bandai for Region1, and are the same as the ones that came in the official box set. I don't really want to end up buying 4 copies of the 3DVD version trying to get a "good" copy. I'm being picky with this one (unlike InitialD) because one of the best things about the Bebop series is the impeccible artwork and animation. Now I just need to find a store that has the individual sessions in stock...

ArthurS 2004-05-20 01:40 PM

Have you tried that 'suncoast' place in the mall. (If thats what its called...been awhile).
