The Great Race

For those interested The Great Race makes a stop (believe it or not) in Truckee today. All the cars will parade through commercial row around 6:00 p.m. (I will verify). I will try to take some pics to post tomorrow.

Should be fun.

All you'd be missing are a bunch of cars from 1918 puttering around Truckee... it's not much of a "race" IMO. :P

car lover eh?

Just kidding, I agree it's not everybody's cup of tea, but some of these cars early 30's to 60's are puttering across the country, considering their age is an amazing feat. The cars and drivers are spending the night so the town, restaurants and bars are all putting on a pretty big show of it.

Actually the history behind it is pretty cool... it's very old school, pre-WWI even, when rich philanthropists decided to "race around the world". Wait, that sounds like an episode of Speed Racer...

I actually love looking at old cars....plus I get to pass out business cards for Hagerty insurance for collector cars...

Well it is pouring outside and hailing up at my house, so I don't know how fun this event will actually be. If it's still raining, I will probably bail on it as well.

So I didi actually take some picture of this event. I will post on Monday. Some very cool cars. Yes there were plenty of the Chity Chity Bang Bang cars (which by the way was an awesome vehicle), but there was also a 1958 356, a 1959 300sl and for some reason a whole street full of late 50's to early 70's muscle cars.

For the mustang lovers there was a few fun show cars. A 71 or so fastback (must post to appreciate), a 2004 Rousch (sp?) highly modified and supercharged, and some others. It was definately interesting, espeicially as the crowd settled into the bars.

Take an "unreadable" picture of your schlong laid out on a piece of paper that read's "Dell: Suck It". Then send it to their tech support and tell them "my free camera seems to have issues, can you try to rescue this picture for me? It's very important!"
