Truck Series Fact!

Fact: Did you know that before Saturday Night's Nascar Craftsman Truck series race in Kentucky, only 1 driver who led at the midway point in any prior race went on to win? Amazing!

This is an inside joke and you may very well be outside

Thanks Matt...

Wow, that is amazing... Does that mean there are now two drivers that were leading at the half way point in the race that ended up winning?

Where was that first win, and who was it?

Was that race rain delayed too?

I also heard that the drivers that are in the top of the points race have a good chance at the championship. Did you hear that?

I love lamp!

But to answer Dean's Question...I think it was musgrave at Milwaukee...

Drivers near the top of the points standing have a much better chance of winning championships...IMO

You have a very astute opinion, Matt.

So, seriously, that is extraordinary that before tonight only one other could do that this year. Did that end up being Bobby Hamilton?

Ahh, thanks Matt... But was the Milwaukee race that Musgrave won after leading at the half way point also rain delayed? Perhaps they are related.

And I think this would be another thing we agree on, the drivers that near the top of the points standings do indeed have a good chance of winning season championships.

And Mike, do you really "Love Lamp" or are you just looking around the room?

Is this one of those "you always find something in the last place you look" things?

Actually, we were amazed last night how shitty the Truck series announcers were at "filler" as they broadcast. Our amusement spiraled out of control with the result being this thread...

dknv 2004-07-12 08:54 AM

And the other result being the filler commentary provided by Dean, who was announcing in the Sunday run group.

So did you know that only one driver already on probation in the Nextel Cup Series gets away with passing the second place car going into a turn after a restart and plowing into the leader who has slower cars in front of him as he gets back in line putting the leader into the wall and taking out a number of other cars in the process and then goes on to win the race and claims he didn't know why the leader might have checked up...

Sorry, I think Tony is a great driver, but there were a ton of laps left, and no justifiable reason for his actions... Everyone else knew why the restart was slower, and stayed in line..

MattR 2004-07-12 09:19 AM

Agreed...I think NASCAR will be pressured into doing something now.

Unfortunately, it appears NASCAR will continue to do nothing...

NASCAR indicated that any sanctions on Stewart would have been handed down immediately -- had any been required. "We have determined the on-track incident involving Tony Stewart was a racing incident and nothing more," Branham said, reading a statement. "If we were going to have any penalties resulting from that, it would have happened during the race."

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-07-12 12:15 PM

Tony is an aggressive hothead, and as long as NASCAR continues to tolerate (or encourage as part of their image) the "rubbin is racin" attitude, all the aggressive hotheads out there will keep pulling risky moves and running into other cars. You should see the ASC races at NASA events... those guys seem to have the same attitude, and I haven't seen a single race where somebody hasn't come back off track with a tore-up car from contact.
