Hesitation problem on 05 STi.
Today at autocross, I drove Ranger Steve's 05 Sti, to compare/ contrast the 05 vs. 04's. Steve had warned me about a hesitation he noticed during his runs, and asked that I watch for it.
Turns out, off the initial launch, I'd shift the car to 2nd, and when it hit 5000 rpm, the engine would cut briefly (like 1 second) and then refire. I can't tell if it was actually dying, or if it was being starved fuel or something. But it was serious enough to upset the car, and kill the momentum. (No, this is not an excuse for my lap time  ). Anyone have any thoughts? It would not do it again, even when I tried a 1st- 2nd shift later on the course. It would only do it the 1st time you shift 1-2. Very weird...I suggested to Steve that he take it to the dealer and see what is going on... |
Steve asked me about this when we were on grid and I couldn't think of anything that would cause that. At first I thought he might have been hitting readline since no one actually looks at the tacho during a run (do they?). But on the way home I remembered reading about something like this on cobb's forum:
http://www.wrxforum.com/cgi-bin/ulti...c;f=8;t=000149 I think I might have read of this somewhere else too ... the only other places I go to are nasioc and i-club so maybe try searches there. |
I do not have that problem.
