Activity After The Meet

Some people get together and do things after the main meet on Thursdays. Art and I were talking about mentioning that it may be fun to go for a group drive, very calm group drive at that, somewhere after the meet.

Ideas included driving to the Geiger Grade lookout to enjoy the view etc.

I think it would be fun to drive with a bunch of Subes, and other cars, somewhere.

Ideas??

Neat idea.
Geiger would be fun, so would Mt. Rose.

Agreed with Debbie. Mt. Rose is a good drive.

Also agree with Franz by him saying 'Calm Drive'.

Calm drive is good idea...but its got to say calm...sucks not having turbo anymore.

May not be able to make it after all unless I end up riding with Franz. Couldn't get the brakes done last night since Kragen decided to give me the wrong ones for my car, and when I returned them, they don't carry any for the 03 wrx. Now I have to order some and wait.

What do you need? Pads, rotors, what? We are bound to have some pads lying around to get you by...

ArthurS 2004-07-29 08:43 AM

Pads...I just don't know if I will have much time after work. I'll see. Hopefully I will.

Who else has an '03+ up there?

That's the whole problem, Subaru changed calipers (and pads) after '02....

ArthurS 2004-07-29 09:13 AM

Yup. and apparently most auto parts stores in reno do not realize that.

Check Tirerack... They might have some in Sparks...

sperry 2004-07-29 09:57 AM

You could always bend over and take it at the dealer.

U53D 2004-07-29 10:01 AM

I can't make it to the meet tonight... i have to work till midnight :x :x

Could....but I will consider that a last option.

LetItRev 2004-07-29 01:10 PM

So....for lack of a better place to go, I suppose we could take a "calm" drive up Geiger Grade to the look out. Some even suggested we could go to Virginia City. I bet most places would be closed by that time.

So, bring those cameras and let's enjoy our cars and do some socializing while enjoying a nice Summer night.

Ideas for next time?

Franz

sounds awesome. I'm down.

Mt Rose Highway s usually pretty calm after about 7. Their parking lot could make for some cool pictures.

Hey Matt,

I'm all for that. Whatever, my goal is just to get everyone doing something fun.

Sounds good to me.

Also, I wasn't sure how late the people that work in the morning wanted to stay out, thus the Geiger Grade suggestion. Rose would keep us out longer, which is not a big deal to me personally.

doubleurx 2004-07-29 01:31 PM

So are you still at Bully's at 7:00 tonight? I'm not sure I will have time to do a Mt. Rose drive depending on when people leave, but I'm still planning on being at the meet at 7:00 tonight.

Mt. Rose is such a blast though, so we'll see!

Nick Koan 2004-07-29 01:33 PM

Yup, still at Bully's tonight. Drive will be after eating and BSing in the parking lot (at least, thats what I assume).

sperry 2004-07-29 01:34 PM

I'm assuming this drive will be after the meet... so 9pm or thereabouts.

I'm not sure I want to take a drive all the way up Rose (or Gieger for that matter) at dusk, with 15 other cars. Sounds like asking for trouble... no matter how "calm" we intend it to be.

<-- likes to keep "group drives" to under 4 cars ever since the EVO incident.

ArthurS 2004-07-29 01:35 PM

Yea Bully's at 7. I probably won't show till about 8ish finishing the stuff on my car but will definatly be before the drive.

I think it'll be fine provided we all stay single file and follow the leader. We all know how to behave ourselves.
