Reno-Fernley Feedback

RFR would like feedback from the track event.

Specifically I think they're looking for stuff they can use in their advertizing about how much fun you had, and why you would recommend the school to others, but I'm sure they'll take constructive criticism as well.

Please post your comments here, and I will forward them on to the track, or you may email E.T. directly at et@reno-fernleyraceway.com

Thanks everyone!

"so you dont want to see another add on TV of how your car should be driven" Next Level Racing is for you

what did I win BOB

I found the 'Lead & Follow' approach an effective way in learning the proper line around this course. The pace started conservatively, and the instructor did a good job monitoring the group so that we could increase our speeds in subsequent lap sessions.

The one additional thing I wished I had gotten out of this class was to have had an instructor in the car earlier in the day, so that I could have gotten specific feedback on turn-in points and shifting strategy. Nevertheless, the class provided plenty of seat time and I got lots of practice in point-bys.

Sounds like a lot of fun, wish I could have made it out.

It was an absolute blast. The in car instruction helped so much. I was amazed at how much faster I could push the car at the end of the day compared to the first sessions.

The follow the leader method really helps build your confidence as a first timer.

The cones for braking and turn in designations really helped smooth out the corners.

Thanks!

I really wish they'd had some pump gas at the track, a lot of us would have gotten some more session time. I even managed to burn 13.5 gallons in my puny little 4 cylinder. :( I wish I could have made the last session because I could have tried a few things I had learned in my last session a lot more.

My instructor, Bill, was absolutely great. Not only was he knowledgable enough to give my simple instructions that really improved my speeds, he was genuinely enthusiastic about making us all faster and was clearly enjoying the event. Everybody should get to work with instructors like that, especially as beginners.

Yes, if I had a car that was worth putting 100 octane in I definitely would have gotten a few gallons too.

Is the track open for test and tune on Monday? I have a serious jones going for some more track time and I have this coupon to use up.

Who else is in for a Labor Day two-hour crack fest?

dknv 2004-09-01 08:00 AM

Neat idea!

Overall, I feel like the event could not have gone better. The staff of TNL driving school far exceded my expectations in regards to their performance, expertise and overall genuine interest in us as students. It really added to the day.

I'm looking forward to future sessions with TNL at Reno Fernley, perhaps even another large group day like this one. As a co-planner for the event, I wanted to thank everyone who attended, and look forward to future such events. We have a great car club.

thanks
Matt

I don;t think my car is up for it yet...not sure about the service schedule yet, but it is an option.

Tell me about it. I already scheduled my appointment with Nate. If it is the Tranny I may be getting that STI motor / Tranny combo that is for sale on NASIOC - thanks for the lead Kevin.

Painful but fun!

As soon as I get that thing fixed, you can count me in.

Just to add props.

When the organizers said, that we were the best group they had ever had, the meant it. I overhead them talking to one another about just how well our group was doing. I have to say, I've run with quite a few groups, and the skill, and the sportsmanship of everyone was unbelievable.

Subaru league time trials???

I don't have time to split this thread back on topic since I'm still at work trying to go home before midnight (hint, hint moderators), so I'll just remind you all that this thread is for posting feedback that will be sent to Reno-Fernley Raceway. If you've got comments about the event, the track is very interested to hear your opinions!

+ : Props for keeping to the schedule. When they started late I was worried that the whole schedule would become useless.

- : Not enough flagging stations. Even though we ended up not needing that many flaggers, that is after the fact, and 3 is just too little for safety IMO.

- : I guess they finally found the speakers sometime around lunch ...

One thing to note, they offered more flaggers, but we didn't have the $750 to hire them.

Hey Jeff, welcome to the board!
You gave me a ride in the morning in that SUV - does that count?

Dean 2004-09-07 02:08 PM

Wait a minute...This is an imposter... :D :D

The real Speedtoys "Jeff" spells his name Geoff I thought... Maybe that is just his 3S name... since he hasn't owned a 3S in years. Maybe he changed his name so the Corvette folks wouldn't know he is a closet turbo/AWD fan...

Next this imposter will try to sell us brake pads and rotors at discount prices...

MattR 2004-09-07 02:16 PM

Hahaha!

qksubi 2005-01-27 11:37 PM
