Just FYI, you're not going to make many friends here bagging on track events. The club just spent over $6000 putting on a track day at Reno-Fernley Raceway's road course, and I guarentee you the 40 people out on course that day will all disagree that track driving is boring.

...unless of course you're talking about drag racing... in which case I agree. Driving in a straight line is boring as hell.

Nick Koan 2004-09-08 07:35 PM

Man grow some balls, iv been to the track, BORING. It blows. i mean on the street is jus crunk as hell man, u don know if the cops gon show up or what, jus down right exciting. real racers take it to the streets, thats where the party is. Face it, street racing is here to stay man. Learn to like it, and i never said i was a champion, hell i dont cut my car loose that much

doubleurx 2004-09-08 07:37 PM

I don't think he said it was boring. He said he got ill...........you know motion sickness. He puked all over himself and had to stop.

That's because you removed the restrictor plate, but let's keep that on the downlow, since she's not exactly street legal!

I'm kinda digging on subarudedude's posts. He's got some flow to his shit. I think we should all attempt to post more creatively:

Round about eight, I'm running late,
just off the phone, wit the Corleone,
I gots a job to do, so where's my crew?
Straight stuck in traffic cause their ride's gone illmatic!

Without my boys and their 9 mil toys,
I won't get shot at not gettin caught,
so beeped MattR and my homey JC
who hopped in their rides most definately.

Without hesitation they were at my location,
three Subarus, one of each generation.
The ricers were frontin' and revving their nuthin's,
but we stood tall like men without compunction.

JC went first, up against a Honda,
homey flashed bills like he was rolling a Zonda.
Twelve seconds later JC was rich,
but he had to wait another 5 seconds for his payout, bitch.

MattR went next, lined up with a Talon,
some punk-ass dude that said he was from Fallon.
Well the kid's NOS blew the motor, and lost him the race,
all while Matt sat at the line, with a smile on his face.

Then I was up, against some chick with a Neon,
Her shit looked tight, cold blue like freon.
A smokey burnout came from the SRT's front tires,
So I lit all four and shot exhaust fumes made of fire.

The race was over in damn near 10 seconds flat,
me and the Neon were quick like that.
But when it was over, no one was sure,
who crossed the line first, was it me, was it her?

A dead heat was called, the first on the street.
A race where no one got beat!
So I called girl over and asked her her sign,
She winked at me and said I was fine.

The race was complete,
the Subarus were kings of the street,
all except for one chick,
who I took home instead, and gave her my... phone number.

It took me like half an episode of Who's Line (15 min) to write that. I don't think that would cut it on TV.

JC 2004-09-08 08:21 PM

tiiiiiiiiite

Glad to see a story where Scott finally gets the girl, even if it is made up.

Before you read this poem...

What a sestina is

that's why it does not really rhyme.

History of a Car Club: A Sestina

division of Japanese Automobiles inspires a group,
if not for a fun time but the focus of a car
the casual drivers are good for a joke
is it seven or six that they are to go?
when not till close to midnight will it end
the positive commune of horsepower has one meet

the turn was four and it was legend of meet
places, rally around the table push together the group
more members than cylinders it will not end
he and she has a new gizmo for said car
it will be faster on throttle for go
the practical knowledge was no joke

each thread was born a joke
with time and sustenance to mold a meet
hot and cold weather will hinder the go
intraweb updates can rouse the group
pink cherry blossom the future of car
now growing a changing not near the end

new faces and engines meet wits end
with blue and silver and white no one had a joke
it was fast and winged it was a car!
fresh focus to each of the meets
an airport to play in with all from the group
a new place to turn and squeal go

orange obstacles to slow the go
against the clock to shorten the end
a bigger organization to foster the group
forty-five to sixty seconds and loads of jokes
easy to join in the dual day meets
NO you cannot do that to that car

seasoned, stiff, and snug in the car
even new members ready ruin rubber on the go
recognized as great under the casino a meet!
now it is seen there will be no end
familiar with persons assault with jokes
spreading geographically into a larger group

the history of car club is the people and not the car
but group must always be ready to go
and end a joke.

If you read his link at the top of the post, you'd see that's a *very* difficult poetry format... I certainly wouldn't have attempted anything like that! Formal poetry has got to be the hardest thing on Earth to write. Try writting a sonnet, those things will kick your ass!

Anyway, I think it rocks.. It covers the histroy of SECCS from our meets at the 4th Turn, to the intorduction of the STi, and people talking about mods and AutoX... even NORPAC's in there!

I love this: "NO you cannot do that to that car " US3D much? ;)
