Audi Event at Sears Point/Infenion... 11/14-16
Well, the Audi driving school season is ramping up...
http://www.audiclubgoldengate.org/searspoint2004/ Audi events are quite different than he reccent SECCS event at Reno-Fernley. First these are 2 day events. One day attendance is not really an option. Much food is provided. Welcome/registration/driver meeting dinner. Lunch at the track both days, and a major banquet/auction after day 1. In Car instructors are provided for all student groups in all sessions. Students are encouraged to ride with instructors during instructor run groups. There is a significant amount of classroom time for Novice and Intermediate students. Novice and intermediate students warm up with car control exercises in the paddock. Depending on registration, there are usually 100+ cars/drivers broken into 4-5 run groups with 25 minute sessions. As these tracks are major venues, the price is slightly higher than the Reno Fernley event, but you get a lot for your money IMHO. I would encourage early registration as these events are almost always a sell out, and Audis may be given preference as the spots fill up. |
Dammit! I thought this was going to be at Seca!
If I can get the days off work, I will ask my parents to send me to the event for my birthday present. I just really wanted to drive an Audi event at Seca. :( This reminds me... I wonder if my Audi Club registration expired. |
425 for a somewhat 3 day event?
do you still need to get your own room also, or is it in the price? |

2-days of track time. Room is not included in the price.
LS is usually in Feb. However, I have taken these courses 2 or 3 times at both venues, and they are both a Blast to drive! And an Audi school is a quality experience, you will have an opportunity to learn quite a bit even if you have driven on tracks before. |
Actually, the fax I sent to attempt to sign up for Seca is still pinned to the wall of my cube. Date: 1/27/04... so it looks like Seca is in Feb. Good call guys.
I may still try to make the Sears event, since I won't have to renew my registration before then, and it's right near my b-day, so my parents would probably be willing to come out for it, since they like to do the whole "wine country" thing occationally, whereas getting them out to a Seca event would be more work. |

The track rental fees alone for these tracks are huge portion of the cost. Sponsors often cover much of the food. These events are not run to make a profit... Your choice, but I strongly reccomend these events. It is also a great bunch of people IMHO. Sears is really special because the banquet is normally held at one of the wineries with free tasing before dinner, and a first class meal with wine as well if you are into that sort of thing. |
I think it is a great deal!!! The chance to get more track time with instruction is always a plus :D
How much do you think the total 2 days comes out to? (empties coin jar) Track+Gas+Break Pads+Hotel+extras+?=1000ish? |

Bump...
Time is running out. Not sure how full it is, but I know the price goes up 15 days before the event... Also, it looks like Laguna may not happen because after all the big races, Skip Barber, etc... Only 40 weekdays are available for the smaller clubs/comercial ventures, and there are 100 applications. There will be a lottery, and the odds of us getting 2 days is slim, and for an event as big as ACNA puts on, 1 day is not enough even if we get one... On the plus side though, it looks like we will be adding Buttonwillow, and Reno Fernley events to the schedule. |
Sweet.. I have lots of Buttonwillow and RFR experience  ...I'm out for Sears though, the timing couldn;t be worse. I come in from vacation that weekend. I hope someone can go, it will definately be a great event.

...nope, I was right... race season is over. |
That's too bad to hear, about LS. Such a fun track.
Well, I won't be at Sears Point, but what's the timing for Buttonwillow. I'd like to give that place a try, and guessing it'll be less $$$'s than SP and LS? |
I will be recovering (cash recovery) from sema 5days in Vegas Droolin over crap I can't afford :!: I do want to do a couple of track days after I get my trailer

Sorry none of you could make it... I have no pictures, and only a couple 2 minute cold tire partial lap videos as my camera kept quitting even after I turned off sleep mode.
Noel De Los Reyes from the last Solo Trial was there, and had a blast. Only one semi-Major off in 8a involving a TT and some tires, but drove away, not to badly harmed. I got to be the intermediate/advanced coach/instructor/discussion co-ordinator which I think was great, and so aparently did the students. Red Rex did really well. Next event Thunderhill, weekend of January 8-9.... Cheaper event both event cost, and lodging... |
Of course - :x - same weekend as Norpac.
