Tuner Transformation...

Anyone watch it today? They did an EVO and had Shiv from Vishnu out to tune it. 320hp+ to the wheels. Take that Mike.

MattR 2004-09-28 03:47 PM

Sweet! I gotta see that.

JC 2004-09-28 03:49 PM

It's on again at 8 I think. They did make the car look super gay though and they riced it out by taking off the Brembos.

MikeK 2004-09-28 04:25 PM

320 at the wheels = spiritual creaminess.

Then again, I have seen some dyno charts of cars with huge turbos where the power kicks in at 5000 rpm, then it is insane for 2k until you hit redline. That would suck on the street and at autocross.

JC 2004-09-28 04:27 PM

Still on the stock turbo it should be fine.

murphy 2004-09-29 07:45 AM

I watched that last night...yup they did the rice vinal shit on it...but the upgrades they did were cool...larger exh. housing on the stock turbo 3" exh turbo back stoptech rotor/calipers, hks cams and vihsnu can gears and reflashed ecu and piggy back system to switch between pump gas and race fuel...and a seprate tank for the race fuel.

Evo Mike 2004-09-29 08:24 AM

damn 320 to the wheels on the stock turbo? that's pretty damn good. I should be able to get around 280 on pump if i'm lucky :D . To get 320 they probably used race gas.

On nevada day, i'm going down to GB to get some new injectors. The damn ecu was cutting fuel because it thought that the injectors were gonna max out. damn computers.. anyway, i'll see what the car can do with the new firmware from Turbo XS and the bigger injectors. :D

Hopefully what it does is not implode the transmission!

Seriously though, your car sounds amazing at this point. I can't wait to see it at another track day.

Implode? Is it going to draw a vacuum inside the tranny or something?

Ya they used race gas. They put in a second tank for race gas in the trunk. Are you still on the stock clutch? Aren't EVO clutches supposed to suck?

murphy 2004-09-29 09:53 AM

he will be alrigh on the stocker until about 275 whp then he will start to go through it pretty fast..but its still pretty new..I didn't see did they do a clutch in that evo on tuner? if not hes going to burn it up fast. EVoMike you should look into getting a larger exh. housing on you evo too. see what it does for you.. most of the time doing that you get a larger wastegate much better flow.

zpeed 2004-09-29 01:29 PM

I just see the end of it and Johnny B never let me down with the white sticker on the car.

If I owned an Evo with Mike's mods, I would look into upgrading to an Evo 5 RS/GSR. "It has the larger 10.5cm2 turbine housing, 16G6 compressor wheel and an Inconel 713C shaft instead of the Ti shaft like the T.M.E turbo. The 10.5cm2 turbine housing on this turbo fits all US and EU EVO8 turbochargers, the turbine wheel profiles are the same, they are interchangeable." Check it out here- http://linux.forcedperformance.net/m...ode=Lancer_EVO

murphy 2004-09-29 02:58 PM

not bad prices, I'd do it.

Evo Mike 2004-09-29 06:40 PM

yeah the stock clutch really sucks.. you can feel it slip when you hard shift into gear. (hell when you floor it you can smell it) But, the clutch mod is like 2200$ (7 hours of labor required) and i'd rather just burn up the stock one until it's completely dead. I dont plan to do any power mods eg. new turbo, larger IC, stuff like that for a while. The reason why i got the cams is that gruppe S had an evo cancel on his 264/272 set (which are very hard to find) the split set that is. So i decided that it was worth my while. I am excited to see what it does on the dyno after some tuneing.

On a different note. Even though i have the cams, cam gears, and about 30 whp and 25ft/lbs of torq more, my brothers car still feels faster. I just jumped into it last night after driving my car for about 2 weeks.. and damn that felt like a step up.. Not sure why, maybe the gearing, turbo, clutch/flywheel, or the weight difference?

It really kind of annoys me that i SORT OF cant get the "rush" off of my car the way i can off the wrx.. but it makes me feel all better when i realize that i can drive that car any time...

Nice snag! They have been on national back order for quite a while.

Well your brother's car does drive damn sweet. He's got a lightweight flywheel right? It's an awesome mod.
