Night skies
Wow, the Northern Lights visible down to the Tennessee Valley, the Leonid meteor shower and a Venus-Jupiter conjunction within the span of a couple of days. Exciting stuff if you like to watch the night skies.
AURORA ALERT: An extreme geomagnetic storm, which began around 5 p.m. EST on Nov 7th, is subsiding now. At its peak, the storm produced Northern Lights as far south as Oklahoma and California in the United States: gallery. More auroras are possible tonight or tomorrow when a coronal mass ejection (CME) is due to hit Earth's magnetic field. Stay tuned! http://www.spaceweather.com/index.html |
Ill have to keep a eye out. Aurora's are beautiful. When I was in Alaska, I was amazed at the sights!

I saw them from an airplane flying NYC to Minniapoilis summer of 1999. It was crazy... plus along that flight path, at that altitude, the sun never totally sets... in the middle of the night, look out the plane to the north and you can just barely make out what looks like a sunset on the horizon!
