GT4...Eat Your Heart Out

How about a real racing simulator:

It was just released in Germany:

Um, isn't that a release verson of the GTR mod for F1-2002?

I've been playing that since early 2003.

With some more updates and cars....so they say.

Except hopefully a release version would be a polished, well functioning complete game instead of a buggy mod.

True, but the racing in the mod was never that much fun. I found it challenging driving around the track fast, but never really enjoyed the racing in the game.

That's what they needed to update the most.

Not quite the correct thread, but I don't want to start another one....

GT4 has been delayed till Feb 2005 or so. At this rate, the PS3 will beat it to market.

Oh well, I got Richard Burns Rally and I'll have the parts I need to get my computer working at ass-kicking speeds on Friday. It'll be nice to have a good racing *sim* on the PC again! Who want's to run a rally league with me?!

You got the PC version of RBR? I was thinking of importing a copy, but between Doom3 and HL2 I haven't had any spare gaming time.

p.s. HL2 == teh win!

Now that I'm sick and tired of dropping $$$ on my computer and hate maintaining it, and now that consoles are coming with pretty much the same hardware as PCs, consoles are truely viable systems for 100% of your gaming needs. Which also means, you no longer need a $2000 computer... a $1000 laptop will check email, browse the web, and display porn just fine, all in a mobile package.

Just a scant few months ago? :P

Yeah, that was me. But I *can't* race in an offline rally league w/ the XBox or PS2 version of the game. There's no way to save my replays to email to the league admin.

Plus, the consoles aren't there quite yet. The new slew of games for the PC are better than console games... such is the ebb and flow. Like I said before, when the next generation of console systems come out, and when there's some good hardware (i.e. wheels, hi-resolution screens, etc.) for them, then the PC will be on the short stack again.

So, as much as I hate working on computers these days, I'll be wrenching on mine this weekend inbetween fender rollings. And I'll also be playing Halflife 2 at a nice framerate. :P

I've been so busy with Rome: Total War that I haven't even gotten Doom 3 yet, let alone HL-2. There's nothing like crushing enemy armies underfoot with stampeding herds of war elephants.

You should look into RB Rally... the reviews place it up with Papy sims as far as the realism... plus it's rally instead of roundy-round which was getting to me... mostly because I suck as teh circles. $55 shipped from a supplier that imports games from UK (the game was never released in the States)... www.gogames.com (I think that's the site, I found it through amazon.com).

If the game is as good as the reviews, I'll probably start up a little offline league where we all run the same stages and submit our times for a little championship.
