The '06 JDM STi...

Probably posted on a lot of forums, but in case you haven't seen it.

I don't believe it.

They're not going to put Legacy lights, unchanged, on the Impreza. Plus the grill and the hood look like ass. And the rest of the car is totally unchanged... which makes the picture reek of being photochopped.

However, I do like the lower half of the bumper. The little vent do-hickeys off the side of the fog light cover look sweet.

Nick Koan 2004-12-07 02:12 PM

The line around the headlights screams photochop to me. Maybe it was chopped by someone at Subaru, but it was definitely chopped.

Either way, I wish they would change more then just the grille.

Kevin M 2004-12-07 02:14 PM

I don't see why it has to change *again* after just 2 model years. I wish they'd spend their money a little more wisely.

I want those side openings to be brake ducts...

Prolly not the best location for ducts... you'd have to run the tubes with lots of 90deg angles to get from there to the back of the brake rotor. Putting ducts behind the fog light openings is still the better location.

Dean 2004-12-07 02:42 PM

Agreed, but the point is, I want functional, and well designed brake ducts!

Kevin M 2004-12-07 02:44 PM

Mediocre OEM brake ducts > no OEM brake ducts.

Unless the badge on the car says Porsche or Ferrari, or the price tag is in the 6 digits... you'll probably never see funtional and well designed brake ducts on a car. They're only useful on the track, and therefore are a waste of money for a manufacturer to engineer on a street car.

Dean 2004-12-07 02:47 PM

How about just leaving space for one, and making it an option... I know...Maybe this goes over in the Santa wish list post... HA

ArthurS 2004-12-07 03:29 PM

Meh...I don't like the look of it much, even if it is a chop.

MikeK 2004-12-07 04:01 PM

One of the options on new evos is called "brake cooling air guides". I wonder how functional they are

Linky

Probably useless, just like the ones that go under my front bumper if I wanted them. They are ducts, but they don't terminate anywhere near the rotors.

Keeping the public interest. Bugeyes 2 years, etc......

qksubi 2004-12-07 04:21 PM

The grill looks like ASS :x

I'd need an aftermarket front clip if they did that. Of course, if they do the whole it's-not-an-Alfa! front end, I'd strongly consider getting an '05 STi, since it will become as desirable as the GC/GM body is.

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-12-07 04:59 PM

The front grille & lights combo is quite fugly.

It's the new corporate look, get used to it. They changed the rear a bit too.

So it looks like crap. That will make it so much easier for somebody to buy one and swap everything into a GF.

Right?

Evo Mike 2004-12-07 11:06 PM

i like the 03-05 STi design better as well..
but, i do like that front lip/lower part of the front end. :D

sperry 2004-12-08 01:31 AM

I know this will offend the owners of the current WRX/STi but...

98-01 > 02-03 > 04-05 > Whatever the hell that chop represents

Subaru needs to get back to making something with those agressive square lines that made the Impreza so hot. Just because everyone else has gone to rounded "cute" looking rally cars (307, Accent, etc) doesn't mean Subaru has too as well. Hell, they're the only ones with a longitudinal or a boxer motor, why should their car look like everyone elses? Subaru used to mean "off the beaten path" or "quirky"... keep that image!

And remember "quirky" != "retarded". :x

Subaru... let this be your inspiration:

Werd... except I like the 04-05 look more than the bugeyes. They just won't grow on me. :?

Seriously - 98-01s are the best looking Subarus out there.
