ATTN: Valentine 1 owners.
Lowe's has suction cups that will replace your worn out ones in their hardware aisle. $0.44 each.
I grabbed 3 pairs, so if 2 more of you want new cups, lemme know and I'll give you my extras! You will lose the little release bar lever thing, unless you get clever w/ the little tabs on the side of the suction cups. |
My year-old originals still work fine, plus I still have the spares it came with. But thanks for the offer dude, you rule. except I was expecting some sort of update news for the firmware
|
I thought it came with spares! I guess I just can't find mine. :(

I just swithed a couple mohts ago to the spares after using the originals for like 4 years...
And I like Mike's idea of Cups better than Scott's Lowes variety... I'll take a pair of Cs please. Do you deliver? |
Back to the topic...
The PoP upgrade is now available! For recent models (with the v1.8 firmware) it's $55 + shipping. You have to ship off your V1, they crack it open install the necessary upgrades, and ship it back. However, unless the cops start using PoP radar around here (which is controversial to say the least, as it's not very accurate) there's no real reason to upgrade since the only change from v1.8 is the addition of PoP detection. If you've got an older detector, you will probably want to update it to get the latest firmware, but expect to pay more than $55. I'm debating sending mine in... it's probably not really worth it, especially since a ticket written on PoP data is probably not admissable as proof of speeding. But on the other hand, it'd be nice to know if there's a cop ahead by picking up stray PoP signals. |
Used older ones like mine are still going for over $300 on ebay, and new ones are going for near retail for no apparent reason...
Now that Pop is avaialble, I will probably dump mine on ebay, and get a new one. It might even make sense to do it that way if you have a newer one as well. Might effectivly get the upgrade for under $55 that way. |

The best part is that the people working there are very helpful (commission tends to do that). All I had to do was stand in the dressing room and say stuff like, "I don't really like that color, can you find me one a little darker" or "I think these shoes are a little too dressy" and the people helping you go and grab what you want! It rules! Plus they tailored my pants in like 5 minutes while I waited! 'Course I spent like $500 on one outfit that I hardly ever wear... but you feel like you're getting old-school service, and the quality of the clothing is much higher than the other crap pedaled in EveryMall USA. |
I agree with you... Shoping at Nordstrom is kind of like a mini vacation/cruise. If you want, they will do all the thinking for you, just nodding occasionaly is all that is required. When I was down in the bay area, I did suits and such there on occasion when I felt rich for some reason.
