I didn't like them at first, but they are growing on me. Do they make one for the newer style cherokee?

Nick Koan 2005-01-02 12:28 PM

Good work kevin :p

tysonK 2005-01-02 01:09 PM

So Kevin drove into the side of the road?

Kevin M 2005-01-02 02:29 PM

More like slid. I hadn't realized it was super slick ice, I thought it was slushy still. So when the car drifted a little bit right, I didn't do much to correct it. Byt the time I realized how much I was sliding it was too late to correct it, I just had to ride it out and watch that fence get closer. That sucked. I was going about 15 mph, and unfortunately I did lift. In hindsight a little left countersteer and a stab of the throttle might have kept me out of it enough not to get stuck in the mud under that snow.

dknv 2005-01-02 02:39 PM

Glad you didn't hit anything. An innocent little 'off'.

Dean 2005-01-02 03:34 PM

Sounds like you guys need to invest in one of the Harbor Freight nylon tow straps.

I have one in both my F-150 and Audi. Nothing more fun than helping an SUV with the Audi.

I actually got the WRX high centered Friday doing a first gear full heavy throttle spin turn and caught the right front on a snow bank that grabed me at pulled me in. A little bit of digging was all it took to get loose though.

Probably not a bad idea, but Bryan is always a phone call away.

Dean 2005-01-02 03:39 PM

Harbor Freight Tow Straps...
I have one of each of these.
1-1/2"
2"

That Cherokee looks sweet. It doesn't look very high, is it stock springs with big ass tires or is it lifted at all?

My Jeep is giving me nothing but trouble right now... :x I'm gonna have to start driving the Mustang every day cause I don't know when the Jeep will be back in service...

Nick Koan 2005-01-03 11:37 AM

I think its lifted 4 inches or so, plus the bigger tires.

Yep. 4" lift with 33's...some pretty significant fender trimming too.

qksubi 2005-01-03 12:46 PM

The snow was the big push to get rid of the EVO it high centered twice on the way home from the meet last thursday we couldnt even take McCarren home we had to go back to plumb there was just too much snow I cant have this happen whlie I'm out of town plus I was tired of her bitching that she hate the way it drives too rough and she can't make U-turns Blah blah blah!! :x I love that car I would keep it if the lexus wasen't so much

BOO 2005-01-04 07:45 AM

Wow, Thats weird because I have been driving the evo each and everyday and We are both amazed at how well it did in the snow. (I am currently on Sumitomo's HTR +.. (Thanks Khail :) ) Which by far is no match for the well ballanced snow tires or some of the other more refined /expensive tires you guys are running) ... actually the WRX skidded more times than I expected ..

khail19 2005-01-04 09:02 AM

I've had no problem at all with the Hankook W300 snows I bought. I don't even remember losing traction yet, unless I was trying to. At $60 a piece, they are way better than I expected. I've been driving everyday since it started snowing, while my wife's Camry has been stuck at home.
