Man, the more I see pictures like those, the more I can understand the magnitude of this disaster...I'm still in awe of the tremendous amount of loss that resulted...

Those are good pictures to get a grasp of the magnitude - but the ones that really draw on my emotions are of the people.

I gave to the Red Cross last week, and hope that those of you who can, will help in some way. This can be such a controversial subject, because we also have so many in the U.S. who are in need, i.e. the Florida hurricane victims -- but for domestic help, I usually donate things like food & clothing to the local agencies.

This was interesting, a tsunami timeline. If I'm reading this right, Sri Lanka wasn't hit for almost 2 hours after the initial impact.

More rich people should do this
I'm not sure but Mr. Schumacher isn't even on the forbes top 20 list where the fuck is Bill gates :? I think Japan has only given 10mill or somthing :P what I talking about I haven't donated anything I need to do that

MattR 2005-01-04 04:50 PM

Yeah, I heard Japan gave $500,000...WTF is that?

dknv 2005-01-04 05:02 PM

$500Million (as of Sunday or earlier) - up until today, Japan was the biggest contributor of money. I'm sure the U.S. aid is going to end up being way more than the $350million the U.S. has pledged so far, though.
