Not apathy, nor being slammed at work.

Just nothing to say, unless its a response to someone else.

MattR 2005-01-05 10:32 AM

WTF.

dknv 2005-01-05 12:00 PM

Ok - question, is it going to dump more snow tomorrow?

MikeSTI 2005-01-05 12:01 PM

Not a chance in Reno any more... I ordered a snow blower that should arrive today... The So-Cal hook up never materialized, so I got one from Salt lake on eBay.

It will however snow very hard over the summits for the next 5 days making it difficult for Mike and I to get to the Audi driving event and back.

I need to go pick up some rain gear, as it will likely be raining over the weekend, and the instructors get to stand in the rain while running exercises. Yippee.

dknv 2005-01-05 12:13 PM

What?! You didn't get an inside-instructor job?

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV
441 AM PST WED JAN 5 2005

...MAJOR WINTER STORM BECOMING MORE LIKELY FOR THE SIERRA AND
PORTIONS OF WESTERN NEVADA FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY..

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE ACROSS CENTRAL CALIFORNIA THURSDAY
NIGHT AND MAY SPREAD SNOW MAINLY OVER MONO COUNTY. BY FRIDAY...AN
INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE FROM THE GULF OF
ALASKA TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST WHILE ABUNDANT PACIFIC MOISTURE
AND A STRONG JET STREAM PUSH INTO THE SIERRA. THIS WEATHER PATTERN
WOULD BE FAVORABLE FOR PRODUCING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HEAVY
SNOWFALL IN THE SIERRA AND INTO THE VALLEYS OF NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND
EXTREME WESTERN NEVADA.

THIS STORM MAY BE AS STRONG OR EVEN STRONGER THAN THE SNOWSTORM
WHICH OCCURRED DECEMBER 30 AND 31. ..WITH THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE
SEVERAL FEET OF SNOWFALL IN THE SIERRA.
A FOOT OR MORE OF SNOW IS
POSSIBLE IN SOME VALLEYS OF NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND WESTERN NEVADA...
ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WEST OF HIGHWAY 95 AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 50.

TRAVEL IN THE WATCH AREA IS DISCOURAGED FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY AS
ROADS MAY RAPIDLY BECOME SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS. STRONG WINDS
COMBINED WITH THE SNOW MAY PRODUCE WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY
OVER HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND PASSES. PREPARATIONS FOR THIS STORM SHOULD
BE COMPLETED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. RESIDENTIAL STREETS MAY BECOME
IMPASSABLE EVEN FOR VEHICLES WITH FOUR WHEEL DRIVE.. ESPECIALLY IN
VALLEY AREAS WITH EXISTING HEAVY SNOW COVER FROM LAST WEEKS STORM.

ANYONE PLANNING TRAVEL IN EASTERN CALIFORNIA AND WESTERN NEVADA
FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FROM THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS STORM.

Say, I heard if you spray a metal shovel with Pam, it'll make the snow come off easier....

And cook to a crispy golden brown in the skillet. :)

Dean 2005-01-05 12:40 PM

Silicone spray works better on any kind of shovel, but it must be done when dry, and warm, and wiped completely off.

Actually that comment raises a new potential dish for Denny's -- besides their Breakfast Skillets, they could add a Winter Shovel Feast.....
