This was down in the foothills on the edge of Carson Valley, near Gardnerville. I just talked to them and they said that they just got another 2 feet!

MattR 2005-01-08 08:40 PM

Oops! Looks like another carport ate it. Looks like veryone got their cars out though..

doubleurx 2005-01-09 09:17 AM

I heard that in the news. Everyone is being warned to move the cars away from the carports. More on the way still. There is some blue sky out now, but I just checked the weather. The winterstorm warning is now in effect until Tuesday.

Nearly all of the carports at an apt. complex down the street have caved in.

LetItRev 2005-01-10 05:23 PM

Channel 4 news had an attorney on tonight that spoke about this situation being the apt. owners' fault, that a prudent person would have shovelled the carports between storms.

I think this is a good case. An apt. manager, interviewed the other day, stated that this is an "act of god and it up to the car owner's insurance to pay for damages to vehicles."

This should be interesting.

If the property managers had our roadways plowed, you sure can't tell. This is what I've had to contend with, getting in & out of my garage since Friday. The ruts are 6" deep or worse in places, so the bottom of my Legacy was feeling the crunchy snow last night and today. Rachel thinks its fun, she tells me we are rally-driving. I think I need an Outback!

Somebody's complex made the Fox News website:

It's the bottom-right one in the "Photos" section.

dknv 2005-01-11 12:03 PM

Haha. Its actually behind the Jetta in some ladies driveway. There was only about 2 inches of snow when I got to it this morning.

You need a subie, my RS got out of our unplowed road no problem. :P Of course our truck does better on an unplowed road than a plowed one.
