Here is the link to I-Club where they are already discussing it ... http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92571 |
It's all over the internet. has been since about an hour after that memo came out apparently. :P I highly doubt we'll see a 2.5 liter WRX next year.

However, if Subaru was thinking about somthing like this, they should move production of all the US cars to the US, and use the 2.5L blocks exclusively. That might save them a bit in cost. Then we'd see a 250hp WRX with the same engine/drivetrain as the XT's and Legacy GT. "Subaru Impreza 2.5 WRX XT GT" |
Yeah, Subaru doesn't have to worry about homologating the 2.0l engine here in the states. That can easily be done elsewhere in the world. If necessary, they could even homologate the 1.8l because homologation rules allow a bore/stroke to reach the 2.0l max regulation.
From a marketing/cost perspective, it makes sense for Subaru. They gotta keep one upping them selves, lest other manufactures steal their thunder. |
I think the typo is in the STI line, not the WRX..
it should read: Impreza WRX STI 3.0L Turbo! 8) |
I'm just going to wait patiently and find out instead of wasting my time speculating and pulling ideas out of my ass.

Where's the fun in that?

They should move production here, then they could build a pushrod V-8 Legacy and run it in NASCAR!
