It's going to be stripped, light, and CHEAP.

He said that profit on the WR will be less, but we'll make it up in performance parts that they're releasing for it ;)

yah I think they all have some wishfull thinking on that one :(

how much weight can you really pull out of a car and still make it legal in the states? I would have a hard time thinking that they could get 500+ pounds out of this car

Well, anything's possible... but like some people in that thread were saying, any lightweight materials used will cost you. Big time. In an industry where manufacturers are looking for $0.05 or $0.10/part reductions in cost to stay competitive, the corporate beancounters would be shrieking at full volume.

You can get a lot of weight out by just deleting things off the regular production versions too, but then you're adding production line complexity (more cost), reducing the potential sales market, and possibly cutting into federal safety requirements.

I think the only changes they'll be willing to make are those that require simply deleting steps in the production line. Like not installing the sound deadening, leaving off the A/C, no stereo, no wing, stealie rims. Or perhaps substitution of some WRX parts with the lighter STi parts, namely the STi's lightweight glass.

I would definatley have an interested in the WR in a couple of years. It would be a sweet Solo 1, Club racing car...Add a cage and you're all set.

I wish there was a factory roll-cage option!
