Spoiler/wing

1 Attachment(s)
Ok this isnt a NEW topic or one that hasnt been discussed before but the fact is the stock spoiler and the hood scoop in an STi flutters/fluctuates at high speeds.. I was wondering if this spoiler is a bit more stable at high speeds? (Of course Aerodynamics plays a huge part on this issue as well as material)

**Edit**

I just realized this should go under the "Technical Chat forum" Can one of you mods please more it to where I think it belongs..
Thanks

Well, it looks more like a real airfoil than the stock wing does. It might do something, although maybe not much since it looks like they have it mounted with almost zero angle of attack.

All you have to do is make the center section of the wing stronger. The fact that it is moving at all proves it's creaing downforce. Think of it as a way underdamped spring.

Thats why I kind of liked this one because I think I read somewhere on the site that this is an Adjustable WING.. :)

Or lift...

Kevin M 2005-03-21 03:35 PM

Nah, it's downforce. If it was lift, you think all the retard kids whose parents buy them an STi for their graduation would make it to orientation in the fall?

Seriously, that's the worst sentence I've seen ever.

The ... fact ... that ... most ... don't ... [make it to orientation] ... [r/has/creates/] ... the potential ... to [r/my/make] ... my car ... really, really fast [because then it is now easier for me to find donor engines for my car]... :D

I think I got it. And it only took me an hour.

The fact that most [jackass stupid kids who are given STI's] don't [make it to graduation] has (see, referencing the singular "fact" from the beginning of the sentence) the potential to make my car really, really fast (referencing the high availability of wrecked STi's to use for drivetrain swaps)

Better? :P
Sorry, my brain made "make" into "my" when I was typing. Where's the speeling police?

I was just making sure you saw that it's been changed.... like 2 weeks ago.

sybir 2005-03-21 04:55 PM

I saw that, was it really two weeks ago, though?
