Owned.

So, my sand damage claim was denied by my insurance company. They said that because it was caused by salt on the road, it was "normal wear and tear." Assholes.

e-surance?

Kevin M 2005-05-11 02:37 PM

That's really lame man, I'm kinda nervous now, I got the same kind of chity insurance, and my car is already peppered.

I wish I could have stayed with allstate, but money talks.
340/month vs. 141/month. my insurance costs just dropped 20 bucks a month too.

Yeah, it sucks. The difference between esurance and Allstate is about $10 a month for me.

Kevin M 2005-05-11 04:24 PM

Starting in November I'll be with allstate too. I'm actually switching to American Family in between. I got slightly better coverage and WAY better service for about the same price.

sperry 2005-05-11 04:35 PM

I used to have American Family, they're a great company, I have no complaints about the year or so I used them. I only switched to AllState because the cost was the same, and Art's the man!

BTW: accumulated sand damage isn't a valid claim, it has to be from a single event like that sand truck that ruined my SVX, or the dust storm that creamed my WRX coming back from the AutoX school.

Kevin M 2005-05-11 06:12 PM

That's the thing I'm going to explain to them tomorrow- it was multiple 'seperate events.' Maybe 3-4 times going back and forth I actually had issues- one of which was with a sand truck that was plodding along 2 cars ahead of me. I told them that I didn't know about it until after the second or third time, which was the first time my car was clean enough to see the paint damage all winter, in late january or early february. During the recorded discussion I had with the adjuster, which serves as a sort of dictated record of my version of what happened, I was careful to point out both of these facts. It's my assertion, then and now, that any one of those trips caused enough damage to fall under a valid claim. I am supposing that they took my statement that I didn't know the exact date that any of it happened to mean it was gradual wear, which isn't the case.

Shitty deal man. Yea, when it comes to sand damage, you normally have to nail down a date of a incident. Hopefully when you talk to them today you will be able to work things out.
